Actually, the year 2013 was a good year for space exploration for humanity. Especially with a group of 100,000+ volunteers actually going to move to Mars in the next couple of years.

Im not so certain that Mars colonization mission will succeed, given that it's being run by a private company who seems to have no idea what they're getting into, and...Don't even have an escape plan for the colonizers. I suppose anything can happen, and, Im certainly no expert, I just don't see it working, not with current technology (Even being as advanced as it is.)

But there is no escape plan. The volunteers are going into this knowing they will live and die on Mars. The purpose of this is just to start the colonization of Mars because with all the data we've recieved on mars so far. It is theoritically possible to actually live on Mars. Mars is amazingly close to Earth in so many geographical ways.
