"So not the vibe!"
"Human you gotta run faster! One of them is already on the bridge!"
Ray's eyes widened as he turned his head to try and look behind them.
"What?! That shouldn't even be possible- I...I can't see it, give me a description!!"
Both of the drones looked at each other and shrugged. One of them finally spoke up, though he hesitated as he tried his best to describe the horrible monster.
"Purple...Hot topic...Smelly!"
Ray immediately narrowed his eyes as he picked up on exactly who they were referring to.
"I'm not even going to humor that with a response."
He looked back one last time at the bridge when the sound of a massive thump struck the ship...And then he spotted the mass of steel and flesh, prompting the engineer to pick up the pace as his eyes widened in shock.
"Forget about hot topic! We've got a bigger problem, don't look back!!"
The battle outside of the ship raged on, becoming hotter and hotter as the apocalypse drones frenzied across the exterior. N's digital eyes blinked and blipped in surprise as E saved her from a surprise attack. The disassembly drone's surprised face was soon replaced with a happy one as she waved at E.
"Thank you E!"
The apocalypse drone was caught completely off-guard by E's intervention. It was helplessly slammed into the side of the ship as it shrieked in E's face. It made several attempts to bite her head. Thankfully E's grip on it made the attempt slow and awkward. However, even if she avoided this, the drone would soon flap its wings hard enough to generate a considerable amount of force. It only needed to blow her back just enough...So that it could reach down and slice off its own legs with a claw. With its freedom gained it swooped away and behind E, sending out several swipes at her back before finishing the combo with a lunging bite aimed at her throat. The legs it had severed were very rapidly growing back at a pace that would be shocking even to disassembly drones.
For V's part, her attacks were swift. The mutant drone tried to kick her with it's spike foot, only to find that the leg was sliced off effortlessly by V's attack. It roared at her before backing off. It dropped away rapidly and fell beneath the ship...In truth it had hid in the cloud layer to try sneaking up on V. If she didn't pursue it, it would swoop up from the other side of the ship behind her. It raised a claw and aimed it directly at one of her sword arms, aiming to slice it off cleanly. If she dodged this, the drone would pass by her in a feint before turning rapidly and attempt latching onto her with all three limbs...The lost leg regrew and it aimed a stab straight at her right leg. If the attack connected it would then make an effort at trying to violently rip her leg off.
J's opponent wasn't so willing to get struck..It dodged and weaved between shots, each movement aiming to avoid damage to its wings. A few rounds struck the wings despite the attempts to dodge however...But unlike the zombie drones, this wasn't enough to knock it out of the sky. And while this one was occupying her attention, a second apocalypse drone snuck up behind J, rushing in with its jaw opened wide, ready to bite her.
N was unfortunately not saved from having to fight these mutated disassembly drones, even despite E's attempts to save her. Another one of them was striking against the airlock, it had already managed to put several dents in the steel bulkhead before N spotted it.
"Oh no you don't!"
N dive bombed the creature as her eyescreen was filled with a large yellow X. She tackled the thing with such force that they both spiraled out of control, falling down past the clouds and disappearing out of sight. N and the apocalypse drone traded brutal blows as they fell, they were both locked in a grapple and both losing oil with each strike.
"Awww c'mon! You let go first!"
N grabbed under the apocalypse drone's arms and pulled up harshly, forcing its spindly clawed limbs to fly outwards. It shrieked before raising its claws and quickly swiping them towards the disassembly drone's face. However, N wasn't one to let an attack that telegraphed hit her. She grabbed onto each arm by the wrists, and then planted her feet against the drone's chest...And gave a powerful tug as she simultaneously pushed off with her feet. The combined forces were enough to rip both of the apocalypse drone's arms off, and with the pressure she put on its chest, with the loss of its arms her leg press naturally turned into a kick that sent the beast falling to the planet's surface. N looked up, realizing how far down she went.
"Whoops, I better hurry back before they miss me!"
N flew upwards rapidly in order to rejoin the others. When she made it past the lower cloud layer she spotted J about to get ambushed from behind. N considered her options in that moment and realized there really was only one...She threw one of the severed arms at the apocalypse drone, striking it in the face and halting its advance. Its head pivoted to look at N before it let out a harrowing roar. ... That was met with another severed arm, this one perfectly striking the mutant drone in the mouth and getting stuck between its jaws as it gagged, struggling to free the foreign object that was now cutting up the inside of its mouth. If J looked over at N she would find the other disassembly drone was now saluting her with a smile.
While the apocalypse drones fought tooth and nail, the Subjugator Gargoyle scanned the ship, its "eyes" falling on the bridge. There were several targets moving away. A human carrying two drones under his arms, and...The Subjugator gazed a little closer as a red worker drone caught its vision.

The mutant leader took two slow steps forward...And then was momentarily blinded by a bright flash of light. It instinctively raised an arm over its face...Lowering the arm it was able to find the source of that flash. A pink worker drone that took a photograph. The beast lurched forward and bellowed a roar that would vibrate one's very bones. The roaring was cut short as a voice called out. "GET THE HELL OFF MY SHIP." The Subjugator Gargoyle turned to face the source. A human...The commander of these flying abominations took a step back, slamming its mechanical hand into the mound of flesh that laid on the deck. It extracted a massive steel lance and then raised it towards the sky. A bolt of lightning came down from the heavens and struck the lance, imbuing it with electricity.
The Subjugator met each of his strikes with powerful strikes of its own. It was calmly and methodically backing up as he advanced, seeming unaffected by his offensive assault. Whenever his boost of speed finally began slowing down, the abomination would leap skyward and away from him. Just then the electricity coarsing through the lance surged, and the Subjugator Gargoyle reeled its metallic hand backwards, throwing the lance with enough force to break the sound barrier as it rushed towards the deck of the ship and right at Karasu. Karasu now had a dilemma. If that throw hit the ship it might do considerable structural damage, but it was likely he would take serious damage too if he were to try taking the hit head-on.
Unfortunately, those inside the ship were about to be no better off than those outside. Two worker drones were stationed at the airlock, "guarding" it...Though in reality they were slacking off and talking.
"So there's this stock sound effect in ancient movies that's called a "wilhelm scream". And it goes like...Auuaahhh!"
"No way dude, I've heard that one! You're wrong though, It's more like...Uuuuahhh!"
The pair were interrupted as a knock rang out against the airlock door. Both worker drones' eyes went hollow with a digital click as they looked at each other, and then back at the door. One of them slowly approached the door...And then another loud bang rang out. Followed by another. And another. And then hundreds of violent knocks against the door were echoing down the hallway. A muffled voice could be heard through the door as one of the worker drones placed his head against it to try and listen closer.
Let me in. Let me in. Let me in. Let me in. Let me in. Let me in. Let me in. Let me in."
The one that had been listening closer turned around with a terrified look on his face and was about to shout "Run" before the bulkhead gave way to a clawed hand slipping through a newly formed gap in it. It impaled the poor worker drone who let out a scream. The other one briefly let go of his fear with a smile.
"Dude, that was totally it! You nailed it!"
He couldn't enjoy it for long however, several clawed zombie drone hands joined in on the action, pressing against the upper and lower halves of the bulkhead and forcefully pulling them apart. With a wide enough gap to climb through, the zombie drones began flooding in one by one, and naturally...They overwhelmed the worker drone because he didn't run for it.
The zombie drones began to race down the hall, ready to destroy this ship from the inside. The alarms began to ring out across the ship, warning that the airlock had been breached. Ray stopped running as he froze on the spot. That alarm, that warning...The others outside were either failing, or whatever that mass was had drawn their focus...That meant it was up to those inside to keep this operation from falling apart.
The engineer breathed heavily as he realized the kind of pressure that was now on him. His ears began ringing as he drowned out all other sound around him.
"I...I don't know if I can do this. I can't-"
His expression fell into one of absolute terror as he dropped the worker drones he had been carrying.
"... Run to the engine room and block the door. You'll be safe in there."
They both gave him strange looks before shrugging to each other and getting to their feet. They dashed away without even looking back as he was left totally alone in the hall.
"No, no, no!! This always happens when I open up to other people! It always goes wrong! I should have just kept my distance!!! Dammit!"
Ray took a deep breath, despair filling his expression as he knew there was only one option left to keep this all together. He hurried for the ship's excursion suits. Thankfully they hadn't made it here yet...He quickly suited up, putting on his helmet and concealing his terrified face. Ray stepped out into the hall just in time to see the horde of zombie drones slowly advancing towards him. He backed away slowly, step by step...And then began shouting at them.
"COME ON! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! ATTACK ME! DO IT!!"
They raced towards him before he activated his suit's spotlight. Though it wasn't damaging to them like the UV lights were, the bright flash of light disoriented them and caused them to stop in their tracks, raising their hands to try and shield their visual receptors from the light. After a moment they got back up and rushed again, only for him to repeat the process. He was slowly backing away each time they gained ground...But eventually he would run out of room to back away from them with.
"I'm right here! Come get me!!"
His heart pounded in his chest. The engineer was terrified out of his mind...But he had to buy time for everyone else. It was all he could do. He wasn't a fighter like the disassembly drones. He didn't have an advanced suit of armor like Karasu did. And he didn't have solver powers like Uzi and Doll had. All he could think to do in this moment was to just try and save as many of them as he could. Even if his strategy was likely to get him killed. He kept stopping them with his suit's spotlight, but he knew his plan was limited. Without a weapon and the means to use it...What else could he possibly do? Ray felt powerless. Hopeless.
... Was this going to be the end?
