Touhou origins: Yumeko

More or less. I'm to train you in how to fend for yourself. Won't be easy. But it's something that you won't be disappointed in knowing, either.

He stands up. He walks for a bit, and then he props up a few objects. He then steps back to his original position, he faces the objects.

He takes out a couple swords, held between his fingers, and then he tosses them. Hitting each of the targets dead center.

And this is what we're going to train you to do. Along with general fighting skills with swords.

I can do that!

Yumeko grabs a sword, struggling to lift it.

Hah. I like your determination, but it'll take more than that. We're going to start you off with something lighter.

He laid out a set of knives for Yumeko to practice with.

You'll be using these, not quite as deadly in my opinion, but when you're stronger, you can move up to larger blades for throwing.

Ah.

Yumeko takes one of the knives, rather skillessly tossing it.

Hm, we have a lot of work to do. Okay, before you throw, make sure to stand like this.

He adjusts her posture slightly.

It makes it easier for you to throw accurately, now, when you move your arm to throw, try to move it like this.

He takes a gently hold of her arm, guiding it in a throwing motion, making sure to go slow enough for her to know how it was done, as he brings it back down towards one of the targets, he stops.

Right here, release the knife there, and you should hit your target. After awhile, it will come naturally.

He then releases her, and watches her next attempt.

Yumeko focuses for just a moment, but then she gets back into proper stance and throws the knife as he showed.

This time, the knife hit the target, it wasn't dead center, but at least it hit.

An excellent throw for your second time. Keep that up, and then we can move onto other practice sessions.

Yumeko continued to throw the knives.

(Flash back perspective incoming.)

So this was the begining of my training, I was a fast learner, I think he enjoyed that fact.

...Haha, honestly I started building a crush on my mentor.

Good, good! You're throwing much better now.

He said with his arms crossed, a smile on his face.

Heh, I'm glad you feel that way. You'll be training a lot from now on. Well, in any case, you know how to throw properly know. But there are times where ranged fighting isn't an option. Sometimes you just need to do something to get some distance from your enemy. Or finish the job right then and there.

He ponders for a moment.

Now, we don't really have someone to make examples with, and I'd rather not use any of the moves on you. But the idea is simple, you want to plant the blade in them. Anywhere will do, it all hurts... Obviously, this should be saved for someone that you know is an enemy. When I find something that you can practice on, I'll show you some proper moves.

He nods.

Of course. That's why we set up camp. Get some rest, you did good in training today.

Hm? I suppose I don't see anything wrong with that.

"She's probably homesick. It won't do any harm."

Good.

Yumeko hugs him, blushing very slightly.

Heh...

He gently lifts her up, going into the tent and sitting down on the 'bed'. Gently maneuvering her so that she would be resting comfortably.

Here we are... Rest well.

Yumeko closes her eyes, slowly drifting to sleep.
