(Note, this thread concerns the original timeline for the Future Era.)

A person peeks over a ruined wall. This town had been long abandoned, but it served as a desperate hiding place for them now. Looking down to the streets revealed scores of mechanical soldiers marching, searching.

"Damn tin cans...", they muttered softly.

Looking above the streets didn't reveal anything much better. Scout Drones -- automated hover crafts meant to assist in the search and lightly equipped for combat were scanning the terrain and any openings in the buildings.

The person quickly ducks back down into cover. They take stock of the supplies they have left.

"All of my Dust is spent... Tch, all I have is close combat as an option..."

It wouldn't work with the kind of numbers being pumped out right now. But in a pinch, it was better than nothing. They turn their gaze to the closed door leading into the room they were currently hiding in. Then that door is knocked off of it's hinges.

A woman steps inside, her gaze set square on the desperate individual.

"G3-07. You have been marked for termination.", she declares, and continues her stride towards 'G3-07'.

They get onto their feet, ready their weapon, and charge straight at the girl still walking towards them. Before they can even bring their weapon into proper bearing however, they're grabbed by the neck and lifted off the ground.

The blue-haired woman stares up at their prey, watching them struggle with the stranglehold they're now trapped in.

An array of swords are then deployed from her body, and her target is promptly destroyed on the spot.

    "Terminated."

She then turns, and leaves the ruined building. Each of the mechanoids sent to this ruined village then begin to march back to their outpost. Soon, a new hunt would begin.

Tragedy struck Remnant after years of peace, arriving in the form of Arcana Droids. At first they were treated similarly to previous threats. That ended up being a mistake that had a severe cost to it. A lot of good people died. Alba was one of them. It left many who cared about him stricken with grief... They also wanted justice, or vengeance. Some just wanted to know why.

Gemma ended up being one that wanted total elimination of this new threat. At first she started with minimal support. But word spread pretty fast, especially regarding her methods. For the people that lost their loved ones -- whether to Arcana Droid, or Minor Arcana, or Grimm... That's when more and more support started coming in.

It snowballed. Gemma didn't tire, she was a combat-oriented AI in a body that she had made several modifications to, especially after what happened to Alba. But her method of hunting them down really hit a fever pitch when, with the assistance of these people, she managed to construct the means to monitor communications -- particularly those involving Merlot's super computer hidden underneath the ocean.

Any transmission, any little bit of Intel she could gather... She used it all. Found the factories that was making the Arcana Droids, and violently put an end to their operations. Then she found even more information. Finally, she had a rather comprehensive list of Arcana Droids...

One by one, she was systematically hunting them down. The Grimm were not any better off. They were captured and used as fuel in this ever-growing war machine. The ones too dangerous to be contained in such a manner were destroyed.

Gemma didn't tolerate obstacles when it came to destroying every last one responsible for taking Alba away from her...

But a few things did still keep her from going scorched earth. Her daughters, and Penny... The countless children that Alba had, as well. That kept her grounded.

But Gemma was nonetheless relentless. This was why Hestia couldn't send her back; yes, she got results. But there's no telling just how much the past would change if this kind of heavy force was applied to it. Penny was the more reasonable option of the two.
