    "Alright!"

while we walk there, I decide to ask some questions

"So umm... are you from here? Do you know anybody...? How long have you been at this academy?" Pyrhha looks pretty cool so I bet she has a lot of stories

The current 'rescue victim' that Penny held in her hands objected to the current form of transportation, voicing that there might be an easier way to do things. But she just couldn't take any chances right now, they needed to move fast and deliberately! Unfortunately the chosen method did get a lot of attention... Well, she just had to keep moving until she found the perfect spot to stop in!

Fortunately, such a place was found, a quiet alleyway! He also voices his surprise and admittance that Penny must be pretty strong. It prompts the girl to smile a bit nervously.
"Of course! All because of Aura!"

    Hiccup!

... Yeah, that was a hiccup just now. Wonder why that happened? The conversation moves along, which she seems relieved about. He thanks her for the help, prompting her to nod.
"Of course. you're welcome! But don't worry about paying me back, it's what I wanted to do!"

Still, despite the fact that they were in a better spot... It didn't change the situation he found himself in; it really was pretty worrying, having so many gaps in knowledge. In this case, it was like all of his personal memories were wiped clean, but he retained his basic knowledge of things. Like knowing about the police or that this is a city. Not that he recognized the location or anyone in it, though...

Penny found the case both intriguing and concerning. Ultimately she arrived to one conclusion as well; if he was in this kind of situation, then he'd need continued assistance! Well, she already started giving it, so it was time to keep at it!

"You're in Vale! It's one of the Four Kingdoms on Remnant.", she explains, gauging his reaction thereafter.

But their conversation also revealed another problem. Namely, his current clothing which stuck out like a sore thumb. He wanted to be able to change into something that fit in a bit better, but the main obstacle to that was that he had no money.

    Penny then smiles brightly.
"I can handle that for you! You just wait here while I pick up what you need!"

One might have expected her to ask for his sizes before she went on her way, but no after looking him over for a moment she gives a nod and then is off to a clothing store! Guess there's nothing to do but wait for her return.

And eventually, she does! One fresh set of clothes for him to wear, and surprisingly enough they would fit him perfectly. How'd Penny manage that?

So Ruby thought Dust was... Oh, well that was kind of an understandable mistake. It's not the first time the name brought up misunderstandings like this. But it IS a little surprising that an aspiring Huntress doesn't know about Dust at all. "You're technically correct and incorrect. The Dust we're referring to is different from what you're thinking of. I'm a little surprised you don't know anything about it, though. It's used for a lot more than just combat applications."

That being said... This girl did seem a little bit odd. Talking about her love like that, but given the way she was cradling her weapon... What? Karasu was a bit dumbfounded. Nonetheless, he tried to focus on the more important point here. "I think it's because being a Huntress means that you'll have to interact with people, and they won't always be people that you know. So it's better to learn now rather than later."

Still... Seeing the girl with the ribbon and Weiss go at it so much was a bit concerning. They REALLY didn't seem to like each other. He knew that there were racial tensions, and some Humans really sympathized with the Faunus -- Karasu leaned in that direction as well, but the White Fang really weren't making things any easier. It also stands to reason that anyone related to the Schnees is going to have a poor opinion of a group that has the tendency to steal from them.

Speaking of which, Weiss also made it clear that she wanted to see him later.
    "Uh... Sure. See you later."

It's not that he didn't like the idea or something like that, it was just a little surprising.

Either way, he was going to let the whole matter rest, but that girl with the book seemed to be a bit of an expert with the White Fang. He gestures for Ruby to follow along to the Amphitheater, and starts making his way there.... But he does look to the girl with the book on the way.

"By the way... If you hear anything about the White Fang -- and particularly about someone with a red sword, let me know. I've been looking for him."

Given the way he said it, it was clear he had some sort of personal history that he wanted to settle.

Motet seemed to be under the impression that she was Grimm, and while that wasn't technically false, it was also not technically true either. It prompted a smile out of Vaneera. "That's because you and I are more than Grimm. For all of her power, she can't exert her will over us that easily."

But one thing was certain; trying to fight Salem right now was a fool's errand, they knew too little about her power, she had an incredible number of allies and subordinates, and Vaneera and Motet still had plenty to learn about what they were fully capable of. Not to mention they lacked some serious training. No, this was going to be a long campaign -- but trying to save someone isn't the same as waging a war.

So at least in that regard... They could prepare for something else faster. No way they were going to leave Nova alone in that mess for long.
"We'll focus on getting strong enough to get Nova free. Getting to the point of defeating Salem is a much longer ordeal."

Still, Motet always made it clear how she felt about something, and she REALLY didn't like the idea that they had to hide so often. Honestly, Vaneera could understand it. It was a little ridiculous that anywhere they went, people got the wrong impression from them. But Motet tried to roll with the punches despite that, stating that she'd go along with it.

Vaneera gives a nod along with her smile.
"Thank you, Motet. I know it gets old after awhile, but for now that's just what we have to do."

With that said and Motet willing to follow the lead, all that remained was for them to follow the main road to Vale. Fortunately running into people out here was pretty unlikely, especially given the forms of transportation that the Four Kingdoms offered. But nonetheless she kept her guard up.

She was already thinking about how nice it would be to sleep in an actual room with a real bed, though.
"Hopefully Vale isn't too far now..."

Pyrrha seems quite happy to answer the genuine questions he has; the reason for that might not seem readily obvious, but... It probably would in time. Either way. "I come from Mistral. I did most of my studying and training at Sanctum Academy in Argus.", she replies.

"I just recently moved to Vale to attend Beacon! So I don't really know many people here yet.", the way she said that last part, she sounded a bit hopeful; like she might be wishing for other people to not really recognize her too?

"And finally, this is my first day, same as you.", she finishes with a pleasant smile. It seemed as though she was rather enjoying the conversation.

    ”Ummm.. that’s right yes, it’s like a well-oiled machine I guess you could say…”

Though she did not directly insult her home, one might be able to tell from the tone and her wording that she was not very fond of her home right now.

”W…well I am… it’s just… this place is so different, I don’t know what I’m doing. People are everywhere… there is no option to take your classes or tests at home… I thought I’d be able to handle things  when I ra.. errr… transferred here. But it is all so much… I’m used to being alone you know?”

Even talking to Snow, one person was a struggle for her, the thought of talking to more was… terrifying.

Though she was lucky Snow seemed to not catch on to things easy, she breathed a sigh of relief when she mistook her words for a slip up, nodding in response.

’Uh… yes, absolutely, I’ve been there once or twice”

Please for the love of the gods do not ask her any questions about Mistral.

The calm, emotionless stare Snow then gave her sent shivers down her spine, not fearful shivers mind you. The other kind, the non-PG kind of shivers, as evidenced by the deep blush on her face as they occurred. She was like a conquer even in her words. Oh gods she wished she would conquer HER right here and…

    AHEM

”Of course mistress, I would never….”
    …..

    ……….

    ………………….

”Ummm ummm that’s just a greeting in Atlas…  a title we give to new friends! yeah!”

Oh gods there was no way she was going to buy that was there?

She was honestly relived when she was able to go on her own after reaching their destination… if still nervous about talking to anyone else at all. At least, until Snow’s partner from earlier began waving in her direction. Wait was that where she was supposed to be right now? She supposed she really didn’t know if they had assigned spots or anything, yeah she must be trying to help her! Snow sure had a nice… partner, or whatever. Maybe sister? Point was! If she needed to be there she would just have to be. So she made her way back to the pair and gave a bow of greeting.

”Thank  you, I appreciate the help”

Yeah, she had no idea of what the mischievous sister was up to ether. Poor girls….
    ……………………………………………………..
”Hey! ice for brains do not call me a liar! My mom taught me to never lie, she also taught me to always drink my milk, and I do both every day!”

She gave a huff, hands on her hips and cheeks puffed up in annoyance as she said the words.

”I took that bunch of jerks and gave them a one way ticket to hurtville! No way were they gonna steal my tunes. Plus they were gonna hurt people probably! That would be BAD!”

Weiss’ worry about the Dust seemed to fade, that was a relief. Now if she could just find a way to sneak away from all this…

….Oh no the conversation wasn’t stopping.

    IT

    WASN’T.

    STOPPING

They were talking about some white fang now, and she could not just be rude and walk off. This was bad, her sister was the ultimate chess master when it came to these things! No doubt she knew all this would happen….

In her head she screamed ‘YANNNNNNG’

”Well of course it is, you made buildings and stuff from dirt right? And sandboxs…. I’ve never heard of explosive dust before, you know someone should use that in combat, OH I could launch it from my sweet love, he’s also a gun you know”

Again she rubbed against her scythe, clearly proud of it’s functions.

”Well I could just send letters… or text on a scroll! That’s way way easier than… TALKING and… SOCILIZING!”

She practically said the words like they were the plague… CAUSE THEY WERE.
When it finally did die down and people began moving away, she gave a sigh of relief. Finally… she was going to get Yang back for this! With a skip in her step, she hurried off to the amphitheater like everyone else.

Unlike a certain other introvert, she DID know her way!
    …………………………………………………………………………………….
Motet gave a rapid nod, her eyes sparkling in amazement. Vaneera was just the best, and the smartest of all of them. She just knew she would beat down mother once they were strong enough, and she would be right there to, by her vani's side!

”Were gonna get super duper strong and beat down mother to a pulp, smaller pulp, tiny pieces of pulp hehehe!”

Motet gave a spin as she delighted in the thought, that big meanie was going to get exactly what she deserved! Vani was right they would grow, master their powers… learn new things… and then beat mom up! After that, her sister would be coming home with them, where she could do whatever she wanted! She gave a wide, fanged grin in response.

”Yes! We will do it, without fail! We’re going to bring home sis and all be a family!”

As much as she disliked having to hide, she knew it was needed, so she would just follow Vaneera’s lead, she knew best after all. She knew the day would come when they would not have to. And when that came she…

    She…..

    She…..

WOULD HAVE ALL THE CHOCLATE SHE WANTED!!!!

”Of course Van van! I will follow you anywhere, I am like your loyal doggie! Ehehe”

Considering how she was when she was first ‘born’ that was not too inaccurate…
For a while they walked, area after area… it was quite the journey full of Grimm, more hunters, and a self-proclaimed princess who went mysteriously missing again after she flirted with Vaneera, but eventually they saw buildings in the distance. Jumping up and down Motet called out:

    ”Were here, were here!”

To Penny aura seemed like such an obvious explanation. After all aura was the life force all living things possessed! It was an almost intangible field of energy that increased a person's capabilities far beyond the human limit. It was something that astounded science despite Remnant's clear understanding of it.

... To her amnesiac rescuee aura was just some word that didn't mean a thing. He tilted his head in confusion, staring at her as if she said something completely weird...

"Right, right that all checks out except... What's 'aura' exactly?"

Luckily for Penny, the attempt at lying went completely over his head. He noted her hiccup but thought nothing of it. Maybe she was just coming off an adrenaline high from their escape after all. Although...Even when she insisted helping him was something she wanted to do...He couldn't help but feel bad all the same.

"Are you really sure? Is there nothing at all I can do to repay you? Maybe there's some kind of favor you need but you're not really able to ask anyone else?"

He listened to her explain their current location... And his face went pale as if he had seen a ghost. - Well...Paler than he already was anyway. His skin was a pretty strange alabaster shade that while not the strangest thing still stood out quite a bit...Although chances were that there existed faunus who shared this same skin pigmentation. That aside, it seems his concerns were only confirmed by what she said...

"N...Neither of those names mean anything to me unfortunately."

Still...He couldn't stay worried for very long. This girl's smile was really something. Even though he was uneasy about all of this it made it a little easier to deal with, even if her responses to things were...Strange. She didn't need any measurements at all? As she raced off he reached out about to stop her and ask about that little problem...But he sighed, rubbing the back of his head and just letting her go. It was probably best not to question her methods, after all she was taking care of a lot of his problems right now. Regardless it didn't take her very long before she raced back with a set of clothes. he raised an eyebrow, impressed that it took so little time, and perhaps even more impressed...That these looked pretty good.

"Thanks... ... Uh, can you turn around for one second?"

Once he was sure she was looking away, the rustling of clothing indicated he was undressing...And in short order redressing, this time into the new clothing. Before long he was finally ready to at the very least fit into Vale's society. He tossed aside the odd clothing that could only be compared to a burlap sack, looking himself over as he extended his arms out momentarily.

RWBY: Forces of Grimm - Page 2 AlbaPortrait

"Alright, you can look now. What do you think? ... Wow that aside, these...Fit really well. Did you measure me with just your eyes?"

He was still curious just how she managed such a feat...Maybe she was some kind of tailor? Regardless, there was one thing among his previous possessions he was about to throw aside with the old clothing...Until he stopped, staring down at it. A gold heart-shaped locket. He wasn't sure why but something compelled him to hang onto it. It was as if there was a driving force telling him it was important to him...Even if he didn't have the memories to understand exactly why that was. Even stranger, trying to open the locket proved to be a fruitless effort. It seemed to have the mechanisms for opening, but it was as if it was locked by some unknown combination. He shrugged and fit it around his neck, fastening the chain to secure it. There was no sense worrying about it now. If it was important to him then that's all that mattered.

"Well, I guess if we're going to figure out what to do with me then we won't accomplish that sitting here huh? Do you mind...Following me around a little longer?"

Yes exploring Vale would be the perfect way to jog his memory if he had any to be jogged. Best case scenario they would find someone who knew him. Worst case scenario he might at least start to remember something...Anything. Although as much as he wanted to do that...

    grrrrolllllll-

His stomach voiced a complaint. It seems that he hadn't eaten anything at all today...Perhaps for several days from the feeling of it.

"... Sheesh, I feel like I haven't eaten in an eternity. ... Sorry Penny...I kinda...Have to ask for help again."

Of course, despite his discomfort with not being able to really pay her back for her help, she seemed all too happy to assist. The pair set out to Vale's Main Street, looking for somewhere to eat. As luck would have it, there was a cafe not far from the alleyway they ducked into! It was...A bit of an odd one. The sign above the door read "Ahnenerbe" cast in iron and swaying with the morning breeze.

RWBY: Forces of Grimm - Page 2 Ahnenerbe

The amnesiac wasted no time pushing the door open, holding it long enough for Penny to enter behind him. The interior was...Cool. Relaxed. Warm. There were a lot of things you could say about this surprisingly classy set up, but none of them would compare to the kind of things you could say about the cafe's staff.

RWBY: Forces of Grimm - Page 2 Ahnenerbeinterior

Several cat faunus sat at the cafe's bar, calmly conversing with one another about some kind of carnival. Really to anyone listening in, their conversation sounded completely nonsensical. The boy just shrugged as he glanced to Penny in confusion. He got the feeling that even if he wasn't amnesiac their conversation still wouldn't make any sense. He strolled up to the bar, taking a seat next to the strange gray-haired faunus.

"A new dimension where those who've never come across each other can meet...As a choice of life it could be quite wild."

"-Ah! Hold that thought, we've got customers!"

The one manning the counter has a name tag with the words "Neko-Arc" written on it as she takes notice of Penny and the amnesiac. The other four faunus stop what they're doing and give the pair inquisitive looks.

    "What can I get you?"

That was perhaps the most loaded question the amnesiac lad had been asked since he woke up in that park. ... Although considering he couldn't remember any other "loaded questions" it was probably just a result of having no experience with that kind of thing. He scratched the side of his head as he looked at the strange waiter.

    "Erm...What...Exactly do you have?"

    "Just curry."

... He blinked silently at the rather blunt response.

    "... Just curry."

"Just curry. Don't ask for Spicy Mapo Tofu! We don't serve Mapo Tofu!"

He stared blankly...A little confused by Neko-Arc's insistence that no one should ask for "Spicy Mapo Tofu". He just gave a silently nod.

"Well...You're in luck because I wasn't going to ask for...Spicy Mapo Tofu. Whatever that is. I'll...Have this 'curry' stuff then."

Their rather diminutive waiter seemed pleased by his choice of food!

"Bubbles! It's time for another batch! Go summon George!"

One of the faunus sitting on the other side of the bar gave an enthusiastic nod before leaping off of their chair and rushing into the kitchen.

As the...Strange wait staff did their jobs, a projector screen hung above the bar was displaying news which the pale amnesiac took note of, he was...Amazed by the technology he was witnessing.

"The robbery was led by one infamous criminal 'Roman Torchwick'. He continues to evade authorities and is considered armed and dangerous. If you have any information that can lead to his arrest you are urged to contact Vale PD immediately. Vale's finest have insisted that you do not attempt to apprehend him yourself. Back to you Lisa!"

"Thanks Cyril. In other news, the recent faunus rights protest took a turn for the worse as the White Fang - Notorious social terrorists interrupted with violent-"

The channel was changed in the middle of the news anchor's report by Neko-Arc.

"Hmph, reporters! They can dish out socially relevant upheaval but not take it!"

The strange gray-haired faunus interjected with his own input after taking a puff of his cigarette.

"Society is all too colorful, complicated, and chaotic for our ultimately short lives. In committing violence we often find ourselves the ones who harvest that violence."

Bubbles emerged from the kitchen long enough to vigorously nod at the almost nonsensical opinions presented before ducking back in.

Despite how odd these people were, the boy was far too focused on the technology he was witnessing to be confused by them.

"Wow...I've never seen anything like that! What is this?!"

The strange cat faunus soon came out from the kitchen carrying two plates of curry, setting them down on the bar in front of the pair.

"So it...Occurs to me...I don't have a name. Or well, if I have a name, I can't remember it. And I figure...It's kinda hard for you to just keep calling me "That guy" right? So...I'm thinking I need a name! At least a temporary one! But...What would be the perfect name..."

His naming attempts were interrupted however as the holoscreen is switched from the previous news report to that of an old black and white projection show. The opening footage shows a man in old hunter clothing with a long flowing cape and goggles performing incredible feats of strength as a narrator begins to speak.

"A man born and raised during the era of Atlas's great expansion. Pioneer of over a hundred expeditions to Remnant's furthest reaches... .... Able to fell 50 grimm with a single strike... ... And trained in the martial arts of savages, his name is none other than...

    MARS PENDRAGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

Together with his plucky sidekick Aspen, he explores the world, topples the greatest of threats, and fights for those who cannot fight for themselves in the name of truth! Righteousness! And the Atlas spirit of adventure!"

A title card appears as the narrator voices the episode being displayed here

"Tonight's episode...The invasion! OF THE METAL MEN!"

The title card fades out as the scene opens on a slow pan of an ominous dark swamp...

    "Somewhere outside Mountain Glen..."

A strange robed man with a...Very cheaply made mask that's supposed to look like solid steel stands over a murky pool of water, chuckling evilly to himself.

"Rise my metal men! It is time to show humanity the futility of their efforts! Riseee RISEEEEEEE! Ahahahaaaaaa!"

Strange robotic beings begin to stand up out of the murky swamp waters, shambling towards the shore-line and becoming more and more visible with each step. To say they looked terrifying would be...Giving them too much credit. They were blocky and bulky, nothing like the Atlas robots enforcing law in Vale.

RWBY: Forces of Grimm - Page 2 Metal_men

"Go forth and conquer the city of Vale in my name! It is time for our revenge!"

    "Meanwhile, in Mountain Glenn..."

The scene changes to a calm city street where two police officers are standing by watching the citizens go about their daily lives... Until a woman's ear-piercing scream breaks the calm from an alleyway, causing the two officers to jump into action! The very first thing they see when they arrive are two metal men kidnapping a citizen!

"What in the...! Charge your laser rifle to full capacity! We have to stop these monstrosities!"

"No don't do it, you'll hit that woman!"

"We'll just have to use old fisticuffs then!"

Unfortunately the threat of hand-to-hand combat falls on deaf ears as a metal man ambushes them from behind! Smacking one officer in the back of the head, rendering him conscious instantly, the other attempts to strike, only to be hit in the stomach with a loud "THUNK" sound! Dramatic music plays as the scene fades to black...And after a moment of silence a new scene fades in, an old Atlas ship flies in the skies above Vale as the narrator speaks.

"Meanwhile, Captain Mars Pendragon's faithful airship the Red Reach flies valiantly on a return trip to Atlas after a successful expedition!"

The scene switches to an interior view of the airship, and Mars watches over the crew from his command chair!

"Navigator! How much farther until we leave the continent? We've all got families waiting for us back home after all, and I think after our adventures in Menagerie we've earned a long rest! Hohoh!"

"Not much farther captain! We're above the city of Vale now and proceeding towards the coast!"

Aspen gazes out of one of the ship's ports with wonder at the city below as they fly past.

"Wowie Cap! Look at how bright the city is at night!"

The captain gives a hearty laugh, nodding.

"Of course Lad! It is the shining city of light after all! But it's best not to stare too long, you'll go blind!"

Just then a sudden explosion rocks the ship, throwing everyone on board around! Mars hops from his seat, immediately trying to assess the chaos!

"What in the blazes was that?! We should be in safe aerospace! Engineer, give us an immediate report if you would!"

"Captain! Someone planted a bomb in the forward pistons! The entire engine room is on fire!"

"Blast it all! We've been sabotaged then!"

Just then the navigator stands up in a panic, looking back at the captain!

    "Captain! We're receiving a transmission!"

"What?! Quickly then! Turn on the video screen!"

A hologram appears in the center of the bridge on the captain's command...It's the same robed man from earlier in the show!

    "So it's you...! Metal Face!"

"How are you gentlemen? My metal men have already taken over the entire city of Vale and with it, your precious friends are now my hostages! I take it you've received my gift! Think of it as revenge for your ruining my glorious army! You've only mere minutes before the Red Reach goes up in flames, and with it your entire crew!"

"Do you have any clue what you're saying...?! What could drive one man to such lengths!"

"But that's not all! As we speak my greatest creation is on its way to rend your world asunder Captain Mars Pendragon! Say hello to my Mega Robo-dragon!!! You have no chance of survival...I suggest all of you make good with what little time you have left gentlemen! Ahahahaha!!!"

The captain looks forward forlornly as the video screen shuts off...Until Aspen tries to get his attention.

"Captain! What are we gonna do?!"

Mars slowly opens his eyes...A look of determination on his face. He suddenly points forwards at the approaching robo-dragon on the horizon!

"We're going to ram the Red Reach into the dragon with all the propulsion power we have left!"

"But captain! That might kill us!"

"Nothing ventured lads! It's the only chance we have...Once we impact the beast I want all of you to evacuate immediately! I will handle this myself!"

The screen pans outwards on a final shot of the Red Reach airship flying at high speeds towards its target...And the narrator speaks up.

"Is this certain doom for Mars Pendragon and his valiant crew?! Will their plan to strike the robo-dragon succeed? Will Metal Face finally rule the world with an iron fist?! Tune in next week for the exciting conclusion of...

THE INVASION OF THE METAL MEN!"

Every second of the show being put on display caught him staring in amazement. He was like a wide-eyed child staring at a candy store. It seems that despite his amnesia, one thing was for certain - He had never seen or heard a story like this one...It caught his wonder and imagination immediately! It was as the projection faded to black that he realized exactly what to name himself! ... Well, part of his name in any case.

"Aha! That's it! I know!!! For my last name...Just call me Mars!"

"Most people have a first name too y'know."

At Neko-Arc's comment 'Mars' lost all of his confidence...

"Gurk- ... Y...You have a point I guess...But what should my first name be anyway? Penny you seem pretty smart. Do you have any ideas?"

Snow noted that Amber didn't exactly seem all that fond of her home from the tone of voice she carried when speaking about it. Most people would have asked why...But Snow had other priorities. She simply assumed this girl had her reasons and left it at that. Although when this girl brought up not being able to take classes at home it caused the noblewoman to raise an eyebrow. Even being out of your element didn't explain...That.

"Classes from home...As a huntress? Do you mean...A private tutor? I don't believe that would be very effective...Huntsmen academies have quite the rigorous curriculum that wouldn't fit to a casual environment. I suggest you learn to adapt to being around others. Beacon pairs students in groups of four for their entire four year term."

Luckily for Amber, Snow chose not to ask questions about Mistral. ... Unluckily for Amber, Snow caught the "Mistress" comment made in accident. She was about to say something until Amber's quick excuse bought her time as the far more harsh girl considered it for a moment...

"Strange...I wasn't aware Atlesians were so...Formal. As flattering a title as that is I must insist you don't call me something so formal. I am hardly fit for such a high mark as that. I am simply a student and nothing more."

Somehow she bought it...Perhaps it was her confusion at being called that which allowed her to believe the excuse...Or perhaps she simply had gaps in experience. Whatever the case she was hesitant to make eye-contact when Veronica brought the introvert over to them.

"Hi! Don't mention it! My sister's always looking to help others!"

Snow quickly glared at her younger sister, sighing.

"That couldn't be further from the truth. You were simply enroute to where we were going so I offered to assist."

Veronica grinned, shaking her head as she looked at Amber.

"Don't worry, she acts cold and aloof towards everybody! I'm Veronica and the big ice cube over here is my older sister Snow! What's your name?"

The ribbon girl was...Confused by Ruby's antics rather than annoyed like Weiss had been. It was baffling that Ruby didn't seem to know anything about explosive dust, and insisted that someone should use it as a weapon.

    "Pretty sure they already have..."

Was all she had to say in regards to that little comment. She...Didn't humor this goth girl's weird obsession with her rifle. As she walked alongside both Karasu and Ruby however, Karasu began speaking to her. She was going to ignore him - After all humans often only had scathing remarks in mind when the white fang came up... .... But then he mentioned something that made her stop in her tracks. Someone with a red sword...Could he really have been talking about...Blake shook her head, finally giving him a dismissive nod.

    "Sure..."

She hurried ahead of Ruby and Karasu, those words boring holes into her mind that she couldn't shake off. She had come here to try and escape...Him. But even here he haunted her mind, and now someone here was looking for HIM no less...Blake made a mental note to keep an eye on Karasu. It wasn't that she was intent on doing anything to him, rather...She was concerned as to how he knew as much as he did, and she would have to be sure to keep her guard up around him...There was always a risk someone would find out about her past, but if he was already aware of so much, he ran an even higher risk than the rest...Was he a faunus too? No...He didn't look the part. No visible animal traits and he didn't seem to speak of them as if he were a member. But...She couldn't chance that he might be in league with them, with HIM, trying to find where she had run off to.

Meanwhile there was this burning feeling that Ruby would be seeing the heiress again at some point...

The Amphitheater was an incredible piece of architecture serving to prove to everyone arriving here today just the kind of top of the line place Beacon was. It was spacious. Even for as packed as this place was with hundreds of new arrivals there was still plenty of room to move around, and the sunroof allowed natural lighting to fill the whole place. There wasn't a spot of grime or filth to be found and as prospective students entered they were all hit with an aura of high class. A man in green clothing stepped up onto the stage in the center, setting up a microphone in front of him before speaking.

"Greetings new arrivals, and on behalf of both myself and all of our faculty I would like to be the first to welcome you...To Beacon Academy. As you enter these hallowed halls you will be filled with the knowledge passed down by generations of accomplished huntsmen who came before you. Whether you've come here in search of a fortune, grand adventure, or perhaps new perspectives...Beacon will always be here to welcome you into its doors. However no journey begins without a trial by fire as you well know."

Suddenly before his speech can continue he's approached by a teacher who whispers to him about the grimm threat that was reported in the city an hour ago...He smiles and turns to the teacher, turning off his microphone for a moment as he addresses them.

"(Please inform Miss Goodwitch. She will have the matter resolved in short order I assure you.)"

The teacher nods and hurries off stage, heading out through a side exit. With that matter resolved the man speaking to the gathered audience turns the microphone back on and continues his speech.

"And that trial by fire is none other than our famous... Or perhaps infamous Entrance Exam. Going forward you no doubt know that you will have to pass this exam if you wish to continue learning at Beacon. This sunday we will begin testing all of you to see if you have the makings of a huntsmen...But don't be concerned. I know that within each of you is the potential to excel. Until the exam you will be allowed to stay on campus. We will be assigning teams to each of you shortly along with your dorm rooms. Take some time to acquaint yourselves with Beacon! We will inform each of you the information you need via your scrolls when the time is ready. And once again...Speaking as Headmaster, I welcome all of you to Beacon. May your stay be a fruitful one."

Penny realized a little slip-up in the conversation here; namely that he didn't know what Aura was. That made sense if he was amnesiac, and all. Although it didn't explain why he had some general knowledge but not other pieces... Hmm. Maybe he came from a lifestyle that never really got into details like that? It's curious nonetheless, but the Android smiles as she begins to explain.

"Aura is a complicated subject. Basically... Think of it as a thing that everyone is capable of, and it increases their physical capabilities greatly! I'll answer any questions you have about it!"

He did ask if Penny needed anything in return, like a favor. At first she was just going to kindly refuse, but... The more she thought it over, there was one thing that she wanted. It takes her a little bit to work up the courage. "Well... There is... One thing..."

Only downside... She started to say the following parts a little quieter, very shyly. He really had to listen in order to hear what she was saying... "I'd really like a friend..."

Now, that probably raised all kinds of questions for him. But it also seemed like it was pretty important to her, too. It was also a fairly innocent request, and given how eager she was looking at him -- was there really a reason to refuse? Especially given that small smile and light blush on her face...

RWBY: Forces of Grimm - Page 2 Blush

Oh god! Could you really disappoint that?!

But there were other pressing concerns as well. Like the fact that he didn't recognize the names 'Vale' or 'Remnant'. Now, Vale was one thing. But not knowing the name of the very world they stood on?
"Well... Vale is one of the Four Kingdoms, like I said. It makes up part of the world that we call Remnant. It's a little concerning that you don't remember either name..."

She said with a worried tone of voice, and obviously the expression on her face matched. Still, there was no sense getting down in the dumps about it, so she starts to smile once more. "Well, everything is going to be okay regardless!"

After a brief trip to the store and back... Penny delivers the clothes to him, and when he requests for her to turn around, she gives another nod and does so! Not only averting her gaze for his privacy, but also making sure that no one tries to peep! Eventually he mentions that she can look now, and she turns around once more to take in the sight.

The clothes seem to fit him perfectly; something that he noticed as well and commented upon. Once more, she got a little nervous and tried to think quick on her feet to explain it away.
"Uh... Yeah! I work with clothes! Getting a general idea of what would fit you wasn't that hard!"

    Hiccup.

In any case, he does make a request that she continues accompanying him, and she grins and gives a salute at that! "You can count on me~!"

A loud growling sound barges it's way onto the scene, and the source is pretty obvious even without him saying it. Penny simply gives a knowing smile, she was already going to suggest getting him some food even if he didn't ask. "Don't worry about it! Let's go find you a nice place to eat at!"

After a short trip to Vale's main street, it didn't take too long to find a quaint little cafe with an inviting -- if a bit odd atmosphere. He is the first to enter, but he does hold the door open for Penny. She steps in not long after. "Why, thank you!"

It seems that she appreciated being treated like a lady, good to know!

The interior of the cafe raised a lot of questions. Not necessarily because the decor was off. But rather... The patrons and employees were not quite what was expected at all; so many Cat Faunus gathered in one location, and they looked a bit weird. Penny had never seen anything like it, but the pair opts to not bring attention to it.

He approaches the bar first and takes a seat. Penny's not far behind, taking a seat next to him. It doesn't take long for all the attention to soon be on them. But thankfully the fact that he's the one that needs food here is the part they focus on. Hearing the uh.... Limited selection does leave her a bit dumbfounded, though. As well as the insistence that another item will never be available.

The following conversations after that news segment doesn't exactly help matters either. At least it seems like he's having a nice time, though! Seems like this was the right call, until another potential moment for her cover to be blown crops up. That waiter was bringing TWO plates of curry!

And, of course, set down in front of them... One for him, one for Penny. She was trying to think of a good way to explain her way out of THIS predicament, but it seems as though she wouldn't need to think up another lie; he was more concerned with coming up with a name, and as if by divine intervention...

Music kicks in, along with commentary from a show that Penny was somewhat familiar with; Mars Pendragon. If the narrator's dialogue didn't already give it away, it was a show popular in Atlas. Although it's a bit on the dated side it's still fondly remembered. She'd never watched it personally, but now seemed a good a time as any to see what an episode was like!

Obviously, the production and budget wasn't quite like what it compared to today -- but it was made a long time ago too. And for Penny? She didn't mind that anyway; it was still a rather captivating story! Plus it seems to have alleviated at least part of the concerns that he had for lack of a name: he wanted the last name Mars!

Neko-Arc does put a bit of a damper on things, but it does lead the topic back around to Penny as he asks for advice. She thinks it over for a moment.
"By my calculations, the name "Alba" has an 84.37892% match based on your style of clothing, facial structure, and personality!"

Penny stated in a bit of an awkward fashion. Still.... 'Alba Mars', huh? Not a bad ring to that.

In a way... Karasu could sort of understand where Ruby was coming from. But, it was an unfortunate truth about being a Hunter. It meant talking to other people, interacting with them. You needed a lot of social skills just as much as combat ability. "I'm afraid Beacon is going to pretty difficult for you, then. All of the Academies put people onto Teams. Whether you want to or not, you're going to be interacting with at least three other people all the time."

Everything else, especially in regards to Dust, he just chose to stay silent about. While he wasn't quite as harsh as Weiss was, he DID find it confusing that someone seemingly so unready was brought into the fold here at Beacon. But maybe there was very good reason for it. Maybe Ruby Rose would end up being a very surprising element here.

However, all of that got cast to the side when he noticed the ribbon girl's reaction to what he said. She froze up lost in thought, and only after a good bit of time did she finally shake herself out of the stupor and give a fairly non-committal affirmation of his request. All of this in turn prompted him to stop, and bring a hand to his chin as he pondered the meaning behind it all... There was only one thing he knew for sure. She knew more than she was letting on.

That was enough for him to keep an eye on her. Things were going to get pretty difficult here at Beacon and Vale. Karasu already had a certainty in that regard.

He pushes the distractions aside and continues towards the Amphitheater... Finding out what the start of their semester was like might put him a little more at ease. Stepping into the Amphitheater only made it clear just how many had come to Beacon in hopes of realizing their dreams of becoming Huntsmen and Huntresses.

And of course, all attention was drawn to the man in green clothing on stage. This was most likely Headmaster Ozpin. Everything he proceeds to say to the gathered crowd only solidifies that assumption.... However, in the midst of all this, there is one thing that catches his attention; namely the brief interruption to the speech as a man approaches Ozpin and whispers something.

The two exchange words, but at this distance it's too difficult to hear. Before any unrest can settle in, he soon resumes his speech. So... Before they became proper Students, they had an entry exam to go through. This was just getting more and more interesting, wasn't it? Soon enough they'd receive their Teams as well as their dorm rooms.

Karasu couldn't help but be a little anxious about the proceedings, especially given what he learned earlier....

Motet was still pretty heavily affected by that Grimm side of hers... Vaneera hoped to be able to help her fully move past that affliction. But for now, she had to keep focus and just make things easier on her. The more stable and peaceful things were for Motet, then hopefully the faster her rehabilitation would continue.

"That is the plan. Beating Salem is going to call on every last scrap of power we can find."

Vaneera looked forward to being able to put a stop to her, and the Grimm as well. Maybe then Humanity could start focusing on things other than survival. They could try to rebuild, tackle other issues that always have to be put to the wayside... But most importantly, she wanted a home for herself, Motet, and Nova. In that hypothetical future, they were going to deserve a good rest.

"That's the spirit, Motet! We shall either find a way -- or make one!"

That saying had become a very popular one for Vaneera. An adamant refusal of how things had played out for Remnant as a whole. She planned on using her new nature and powers to take it all back for Humanity; they were done being pushed around.

Still... Hearing Motet refer to herself as a 'loyal dog' struck Vaneera in an odd way. She didn't like being reminded of when Motet was more animalistic. Even now... Her friend was struggling with what they had been turned into. She quickly shakes off her funk, both to not alarm Motet, and because she couldn't give up now. Not when so much progress had already been made.

The journey ahead to Vale was not an easy one. Plenty of more obstacles and... Strange twists awaited them. One of which was a kind girl claiming to be a Princess. Vaneera never really pictured herself as a Knight off to save some damsel in distress, but that had sort of happened. Motet wasn't happy about it, of course. Even less so when that Princess started showing interest in Vaneera.

But they also mysteriously parted ways, for reasons that Vaneera never found out beyond "She just wanted to go home, Vani!", as said by Motet.

She was concerned about someone traveling alone in the wilderness like this, but she must not have been too far if she thought she could make it, so... Vaneera lets the matter rest; besides, they had finally arrived.

Civilization lay stretched across the land before them. But now more than ever, keeping a low profile was going to be important.
"Right. Time to make sure we blend in as much as we can..."

Vaneera adjusts her red cloak and hood, making sure that her features are hidden as much as possible. Right now, she wanted to be nothing more than the stranger that maybe stuck out as a sighting in someone's memory, but not enough to be worth investigation.

"Thanks to all the people we fought, I did pick up a few things that should help us." She mentions, now producing a pouch that held a fairly considerable amount of Lien. "We should be able to find a nice place to rest and afford some decent food with this kind of funding on hand."

Vaneera might not want to kill any Humans that she comes across, but she wasn't above taking money for the trouble. Discreetly, of course. Survival was important for both herself and Motet.

    "Let's start looking."
With that, Vaneera carries on towards the city... It wasn't going to be much longer before they'd enter the outskirts, and then the city proper.

It was a little funny, Pyrrha spent all this time worrying about her reputation and having awkward conversations, but... Right now she was having a pretty nice one. She smiles as her new friend expresses his interest in being on the same Team as her, along with some of his own history.

"You come from Atlas? I guess it's true, Beacon really does pull in people from all over the world.", she replies. "So, your father is a robotics expert... Do you share the same interests?", she then queries.

It seems he was a little worried about ending up with a good Team, though. Hoping to ease his fears, she simply pats him on the shoulder.
"Don't worry. I'm sure we'll both end up with great Teams!"

Fortunately, the pair of them arrive just in time for Ozpin's speech, and all the information disclosed within... Pretty soon, a lot of things were going to be decided, and they'd be thrown into the thick of things with the entry exam. Pyrrha wasn't too worried about herself, but she was hoping that her friend would be alright.

"Good luck in the entry exam!", she'd say to him now that the speech was concluded.

RWBY: Forces of Grimm - Page 2 Rivalla1

She seemed to appear from nowhere. The strange horned girl, everything was different from your normal occupant of Vale. Her skin was blue, her clothing was as if she had stepped out of the dark ages. The same could be said of the equipment upon her back, a strung wooden bow and a sword. Both were well made and sturdy… but they would give the appearance of ancient to any normal person. What could be seen clearly to anyone however was the look of fear on her face as she ran past a cafe and several other buildings. This woman did not know the world of humans…. Because she was not a human to begin with. She was lost in this world all alone.
But she had a mission, she had to warn him before it was to late. He was mother’s friend, and more than that he had been so nice to her when she was young, unlike the other humans. He had not minded what they were. She did not know what he looked like know, or how old he was…. But if ‘she’ was after him than that meant he was still alive. She had to find him and warn him of the danger he was in. But to do that…. She to lose the beast trying to drag her back home…. Somehow.

RWBY: Forces of Grimm - Page 2 Vesper

Large and voracious the Vesper were her peoples hunting partners, they were famous for, in addition to their size and power, never losing a scent once they had it. That meant the only option was for her to find someway to take it down! She could not lead it to Sir Kairos like this… but how?

This was the sight people around the town saw. This strange woman…. And the beast chasing it across the alleyways.

Eventually this prove fruitless however, as her body tired the beast was able to claw at her leg, wounding her enough to cause her to fall to the ground and cease her movement. As the creature hunched over her it gave a growl, ready to retrieve it’s target.

”D…dammit I… I just wanted to help my friend you big dumb beast!!!”

As the strange girl struggled the commotion became noticeable to an older woman in the distance. The woman who adjusted her glasses and, turning on her heal began to make her way to the source of the chaos without fear, even as people ran past her screaming.
Though it would take her a while to get there yet….
    ……………………………………………………..
Groups of four. Amber was going to have to work in groups of four in this academy. The thought was perfectly logical on paper, but it was a nightmare to her. She had never worked on a team before! Not even back home, she always did all her work solo. Oh, this was going to be a disaster, how could she possibly do this? But she could not go back home now…. Nor did she want to. At least Snow had bought her excuse… that was a major relief for her. Snow’s presence and attitude simply… got to her. She could not really explain why but… at least she was able to get out of the trouble. She was terrible with crowds but at least in this situation she was able to stand with people she had already met. That made it… a little less stressful for her at least.
Snow’s sister though…. Seemed intent on making sure they interacted, even as Amber simply smiled and gave a nod of understanding at Snow’s explanation.

”Ah you shouldn’t call your sister an ice cube, she’s ho… errr… I mean, she was really nice to me”

She sighed, she supposed there was no way of avoiding it was there? It would be rude not to give a full explanation.

    ”My name… is Amber Alchemilla”

She could only hope that name was not well known outside of Atlas. Ozpin had known it… but… maybe normal people did not? She really hoped so.

She listened closely to the information they were given. Snow had been right about it all. She was going to have to learn to work with a bunch of strangers, effectively to if she wanted to stay here. The girl nervously adjusted her glasses as she looked towards the ground, not meeting anyone’s eyes. She grumbled, thinking no one could here her over all the noise, though it was still loud enough Snow and her sister likely could.

”This is to much… what am I going to do…?”
    ……………………………………………………………….
Ruby was fairing… no better than her fellow introvert, flailing her arms as she exited the ampitheater. Could not she just… shoot some things off herself and show herself off like a hero! That being said…. At least she would not have to focus on bonding with others a lot! She could just arrive on the scene, reap with her baby and drink her milk! Her sister had tried to entrap her in the chains of social interaction but she escaped, she preserved!

And she tripped right outside the amphitheater cause she wasn’t paying attention
Annnnnnd she fell right on top of someone.

Good job. Here lie Ruby, future huntress extraordinaire!
    ……………………………………………………………………………………
How did Motet disguise herself? To her it was simple. She just hid her fangs… and took out Vaneera’s spare cloak she let her borrow! They looked quite the pair dressed in twin red cloaks, and absolutely not suspicious at all! She nodded at the money Vaneera held out. It was good that they would not have to sit out in the rain or something. It did not bother her, but van van deserved so much better?!

She followed close behind her partner as they continued their way. Soon they would enter the town proper… in fact as they walked Motet began to see the shine of various lights in the distance, to which she began jumping up and down in excitement, causing her cloak to bob up and down with her. In the distance she pointed at the coming city with her large, fanged grin.

”Vani Vani its there! Were almost there….”

She gave a twirl around the area….. then she began dashing off with a right hold on vaneera’s hand to bring her along.

    ”Let’s see it alllll!”

Well, Penny was none the less very well versed in information. She summarized an explanation on the fundamentals of aura and its many uses. Although she offered to answer any questions about it, he honestly couldn't think of anything he really needed to know about what hadn't already been explained...At least not at the moment. He poked away at his ear with a rogue finger, rolling all of that information around in his empty mind.

"Right...Well this aurawhatsit sounds really useful. And I guess that explains the difference in our uh...Physical capabilities like you put it. It doesn't really jog any memories unfortunately...Maybe I never had anything like that before I got knocked senseless?"

The amnesiac is a little taken aback that Penny seemed to be showing so much hesitance on that request though...Maybe she really DID want something? But it seemed like whatever it was she was just having so much trouble getting it out. It was a little strange...He hadn't known her very long but she seemed pretty outgoing. Still, he gave her a moment to try and get out whatever the request was...And when she finally did get it out of her system it came out quietly. So quietly in fact that he almost didn't catch what she said...

"Hah? am I hearing you right? You just want a friend? Well why didn't you say so? After all you've done for me there's no way I could refuse. I'd love to be your friend Penny! Now don't get any wrong ideas either, I'm honestly not just sayin' this to pay you back! I genuinely wanna be your friend! I mean you're really nice and you've gone out of your way to help me out...I'd be a lot worse off if you hadn't found me back there in that park."

It was an undeniable fact, if she didn't arrive when she did he would be in police custody by now...Or worse. Something like this, it wasn't just the desire to pay her back, or because it would be "useful to him". It was because even with as little knowledge as he had, his mind was still able to tell him that her friendliness wasn't that common. Being friends with someone as genuine and trustworthy as Penny...That really was a no-brainer even if her request was a little...Strange.

"I'm guessing you don't get the chance to make a lot of friends? I can't see why though...People would be crazy not to wanna be around you."

That observation aside his eyes go wide for a second as she hiccups a second time after having tried to quickly excuse away the reason she was able to gauge his clothing sizes. This time the hiccup didn't escape his notice. Although...It seems the real reason she was capable of such a thing flew right over his head as his eyes quickly went back to normal.

"Wow, you're a master of this "aura" thing AND an accomplished tailor on top of it? Got a lot of useful skills then Penny!"

... Luckily being a complete blank slate made him a little oblivious to the deeper meanings behind what Penny was capable of. It was unlikely they would ever come into a situation where she couldn't explain away what she was capable of. Still...He was grateful that she was happy to continue accompanying him. Even more so when she offered to help find a place to eat. Even if said place was a little...Out of the ordinary.

A simple nod was all he gave in response to her thanks. He noted how delighted such a simple action made her, although...Lacking in a lot of memories really made it strange to him. He didn't question it or even show confusion, it was more...Momentary curiosity from a simple observation. Although all the excitement aside, the matter had moved onto his name. A last name was great, but their waiter wasn't wrong either...A last name just didn't work so well without a first name to start it all off. Oh it wasn't just that he needed a name. If it were just for the sake of convenience then he could have come up with any simple moniker on the spot. No...He wanted a name for a much deeper reason - He was a blank slate, someone with no memory, very few possessions, and...A seemingly unspecified personality. He had no dreams, no aspirations, and yet...In the short time he knew Penny, and with a simple show displaying what a hero was like...He had already become sentimental. A name would serve to give "color" to the slowly budding individuality.

And yet while he had asked Penny what she thought, expecting something rather simple and being fully prepared to accept it out of that newfound sentimentality...She came up with something surprisingly amazing, even giving a calculation on how well it fit him. He blinked in silent surprise. - No it wasn't just him, him and every other person in that cafe just...Stared silently at Penny.

"Huh...You're uh...Really good at math. That aside...'Alba Mars' huh? ...Yeah...I like the sound of that! I can really get behind a name like that!"

Alba Mars; no longer a blank slate and instead now an individual! He gave Penny a bright smile, clearly grateful for her help in that regard...Having a name is something no one else would really put that much thought into. Others were born with a name, something given to them by their parents. Even Penny was no different in that regard. But for Alba...He woke up knowing that he was nameless. Or at least...That whatever name he had before was something he couldn't possibly remember now. It made him...Happy, even relieved to have something to call himself, something that carried meaning behind it. Still...He couldn't ignore his growing hunger any longer and dug into the curry without a second thought. It was warm...It tasted really good!

"Wow...This curry stuff is really great!! I've never had anything like it before! - Uh...That I can remember anyway!"

If his hunger hadn't been apparent before, it was now. It took him only seconds to clean the entire plate of its contents! It seems that whoever he had been before he lost his memories...He certainly had an appetite! The food warmed up his stomach and made him feel...Revitalized. Whatever energy he had somehow expended ending up where he was had been replenished. Any remaining discomfort soon faded away completely as he finally tended to all of his body's most pressing concerns. Now that he was feeling much better it would be easier to collect his thoughts, try to figure out what he knew and what he didn't and go from there.

"Well, I still don't remember any place named "Vale", and I haven't regained any memories as far as I can tell...But at least I can say I was lucky enough to be rescued by a pretty girl!"

As their conversation continued however it seems something was happening just outside...That familiar screaming of panic and chaos erupted again, although this time it was at least not aimed at him, electing a sigh of relief to escape from his mouth. But it wasn't like he could just ignore what he was seeing and hearing...As much as his mind told him that he shouldn't get involved...Seeing that strange blue woman running past the front windows being chased by some...Unholy creature. The look of terror painted on her face didn't escape his observation... He just couldn't ignore someone clearly in distress. Even if he didn't know who he was, even if he had no memory of this place or the people living here...He had already decided that helping was "Right"...Even if he didn't fully grasp why.

"Now I don't have enough experience to confirm but...I'm guessing that kinda scene ISN'T normal in Vale."

He stepped out of his chair, pushing it in politely and then gave a sigh, exasperated at what he was about to do...

"Good grief...I won't ask you to back me up Penny, but...I'd feel better about having someone at least watching to make sure I don't get in over my head."

Alba took a deep breath...In...Out...And then hurried to the front door of the cafe, pushing the door open with some measure of force and stepping out into the morning sunlight, turning towards the direction that chaos was heading in. He waited for Penny to catch up to him and then...He took off sprinting after that massive creature! Even without aura to support him...He was fast. Not fast to a level that could be considered anywhere near impressive...But considering he lacked aura he could still have been considered "Above average" when compared to other aura-less people.

Though it was unfortunate for the strange blue girl to have been stopped...It was fortunate that her help didn't have to run very far to reach her. Before long Alba had managed to sprint through several alleyways and reach where the chase had reached its conclusion. His mind raced as he struggled to quickly think of a way to combat this four legged behemoth...He knew that there was no way he'd ever be able to hurt it fighting head on. But he had to do something! Alba scanned the environment immediately around them...Noticing some outdoor tables with wooden umbrellas set into the center of them. Scanning the size of the umbrella poles gave him inspiration...He grabbed one firmly, yanking it out of the table and swinging it into an angle appropriate for a weapon.

"Hey ya inbred house cat! Leave the girl alone!"

Alba's stance shifted sideways as he placed both hands firmly towards the bottom of the umbrella. He reeled it back, preparing to unleash an attack...And baseball style swung it at the beast's leg with all his might!!!

    "HeeeeeYAH!!!"

THWACK! The umbrella met its mark perfectly! ... And then it shattered on impact, splintering into hundreds of smaller pieces...Unfortunately for Alba, the beast's hide was completely untouched by this attack. Even putting all his force behind the strike there wasn't so much as a scratch to be found at the point of impact.

"... Well that could have gone a lot better."

Thankfully for Amber, her freudian slip had gone unnoticed by both sisters in this case due to the echoing sound of the crowd speaking amongst each other. A lucky thing too because Veronica was far less...Oblivious than her elder sibling, having never focused as hard on a singular goal as Snow had gave her more social experience instead. Veronica simply gave a nod instead as Amber admitted Snow had been nice rather than cold.

"That sounds like my sister alright! She pretends not to care but she's a big softie on the inside!"

Snow frowns at being described in such a way, shaking her head in objection at this.

"Veronica please, my insides are as stone cold as my exterior and I'll have you know I PREFER to keep it that way."

But once Amber introduced herself, both Snow and Veronica took notice, the pair nodding in understanding. Neither of them recognized Amber's name from anywhere...But Snow had a few interesting comments.

"Amber. It is good to make your acquaintance. You have a powerful name you know?"

Veronica scratches her head in confusion, not really sure what her elder sister means by that comment...

"Uh...Mind repeating that in common Valesian, sister?"

The cold elder sister glances at Veronica silently for a moment before nodding and clarifying what she means by that comment.

"Names aren't simply monikers for easy recognition. A name is something that always carries meaning behind it. It is as true for first names as it is for a family name. Take Amber's name for example. The sound of it is hardened but warm. When you speak her name does it not conjure images of a strong warrior that is reliable? Likewise my name...Snow, it is cold, but it is a natural force of nature. - Unstoppable but not unwelcome."

It was...Not something that could really be argued against. She certainly had a point even if it was a little...Unconventional to talk about. Veronica rubbed her chin, following along before speaking up.

"Well that makes sense I...Think. But then what does my name mean to you?"

"Veronica? Well, that's quite simple. It's soft and as gentle as a summer breeze. It makes me think of your innocence and lack of experience, but also your kindness."

    The younger sister sighs...

"I feel like that was a backhanded compliment...But I'll take it."

Their amusing conversation aside...Both sisters had taken notice of the comment Amber made, coupled with how desperate she looked...Veronica took on a concerned expression, leaning in and whispering to her sister.

"(Sis...We gotta say something or this poor girl is going to have a mental break down...)"

"(Absolutely not! What she struggles with is of no concern to me! I already told you that we're not here to make friends! I can't afford to be held back by the struggle of others.)"

"(Okay, I guess if you think you can sleep at night knowing you abandoned someone who could have helped you with your goal...)"

    "Rrrghhh...Of all the underhanded...!"

Snow sighs, stepping between Veronica and Amber and placing a hand on Amber's shoulder. It was not the firm grip she had normally applied...But something more relaxed. Snow aimed to help get Amber's mind off of her troubles, not scare her even more.

"Is something troubling you Amber? Would you perhaps like to join myself and my younger sister in looking around Beacon while we wait for the team announcements?"

Ruby's day was somehow going EVEN WORSE than Amber's! While she was dealing with her internal monologue she tripped right over who else but the dust heiress from earlier...! Weiss shouted in surprise!

"Wha- Who-... YOU?! NOT YOU AGAIN! You...You crashed into me a second time?! Why don't you get some glasses you absolute DOLT!!!"

... At this point Ruby and Weiss were both likely cursing the universe for throwing them into situations like this all morning. Weiss desperately tried to push the younger huntress in training off of her, if successful Weiss would roll over and get up, brushing off her dress and huffing in anger.

"You couldn't POSSIBLY be less fit for a job like this if you tried! Why don't you just...Go home and tell your mother and father to sign you up for cotillion classes instead, I'm certain going back to the basics of social practice would help you greatly! HMPH!"

The pair's accidental second meeting was loud enough that it would be impossible to ignore, especially given that it was happening right outside of one of the amphitheater's entrances...Several students had gathered around the pair to witness the harsh verbal beating the heiress was giving to Ruby!

"Wow...I'm just glad that this time I'm not the one being humiliated in front of a crowd!"

    "Shut up Vomit Boy."

    "...Awww..."

The timid blonde guy rubbed the back of his head trying to slip into the crowd as Weiss's verbal assault continued.

"And another thing! You have SOME nerve even signing up for Beacon of all places! This is the most elite school in all of Remnant! You being here makes ALL OF US look worse! I cannot believe they even accepted someone as clumsy as you! You're just...Impossible! An anomaly of unheard of levels!"

    ~Before the Cafe...~

So, his theory is that he might not have had Aura before he lost his memory... That might explain why he didn't seem to know anything about it.
"Huh. Maybe you lived in a pretty safe place? Anyone that is serious about fighting needs Aura.", Penny responds, trying to figure out the mystery.

But it's not like she could really get anywhere. Other than he surely had to have been in a city; and have a fairly sheltered life even then. But either way, things move swiftly on towards Penny's sole request, which is to have a friend. She listens intently to his every word, and slowly she starts to give off a beaming smile more and more!

By the time he's finished speaking, she can barely contain her excitement anymore, she just rushes him and gives him one heck of tackle hug!
"Ooooh thank you! Thank you thank you!"

Wow... REALLY strong. It's like she doesn't even know her own strength! Eventually, after he inevitably starts to tap out and let her know that he needs air, she lets up and sets him down. "Sorry!"

If she looked embarrassed before, then his mention of her many skills only brings that further to attention. "Haha... Yeah! I've had a lot of free time to practice!"

    Hiccup.

    ~In the Cafe...~

Alright, she could sort of understand why Alba might be confused, but even those strange Cat Faunus staring too? Was it REALLY that out of place? Oh no, she might have to come up with a quick explanation! Just when she starts to get flustered -- he chimes in with his approval of the name. Phew, tension relieved.

"I concur! 'Alba Mars' seems a very suitable name for you!", she replies with a smile.

Seeing him have such a healthy appetite was pretty reassuring too. It meant that the food was both delicious, and that there was nothing wrong with him aside from just being hungry. All in all, it seems like he was really starting to get back on track. But uh... There was one bigger concern. Penny hadn't really brought it up yet, but she wasn't going to simply leave him to figure it out for himself either.

She'd just have to convince her Father that this was a necessary task for her. But she was pretty confident that he would understand! Although she's brought out of her wandering thoughts as Alba begins to remark upon his situation in Vale once more, ending off his comment with an acknowledgement that he'd been rescued by a pretty girl.

Penny looked a bit shocked -- but not necessarily offended. Then she speaks.

"But I thought I was the first one to find you!"

... Wow, that really did just go over her head, didn't it?

Although eventually the pleasant conversation and atmosphere is interrupted by screams and the sounds of chaos once more. It put Alba on edge understandably, but it's very much not connected to him. Penny glances out the windows of the Cafe to see a woman run by -- and a very large creature chasing after her. That's enough to make the Android stand up.

"No, that's not normal at all.", she replies with a shake of the head. "Don't worry. I'm combat ready! Just leave the fighting to me!"

She seemed pretty confident, and given her feats of strength showcased earlier... There was probably good reason for that.

    ~After the Cafe...~

Penny kept pace with Alba easily enough, he was fast, but she wanted to make sure she didn't speed ahead of him, nor keep him waiting. If things got desperate enough, she'd use her full speed. But she didn't want to leave her friend alone right now either. If there was one beast, there might be others...

To Alba's credit, he armed himself with makeshift weaponry and charged in without fear to try and fend the beast off. It still alarmed Penny.
    "Wait, it's dangerous!"

She called out. But it was too late to stop him from trying to attack the larger creature. She wasn't going to waste anymore time waiting to see what it might do in response. She lowers her stance, and suddenly she dashes forward faster than ever before! The reason for why became clear -- was that a goddamn Jet Engine behind her?!

That meant it was loud enough for the beast to hear. Not that it might have the time to react properly before Penny rammed into it with all of her might.
"Let's see if this might soften you up!"

Well... If all went according to plan, at least Alba and that girl would be safe now. That beast would probably be more concerned about that jet-powered freight truck that just crashed into it.

Karasu felt a little aimless right now; until he could find out what Team he's on, and which Dorm Room he's at... Well, it seemed like a lot of people were in the same situation, and each one had their own way of confronting that particular issue. He decides to explore the Academy a bit more, maybe he'll find something to preoccupy himself with until it's time.

What he ends up hearing? Well, someone crashing into someone else -- and then yelling. Yep... That was Weiss, which means...

He rounds the corner to see Ruby and Weiss. They're going at it again. Understandably, Weiss is a little frustrated that this predicament keeps happening. There's more than a few heated words being thrown at Ruby, and... Karasu can't help but feel a little bad for both of them, for a variety of reasons. He was about to step in when he hears someone from the gathered crowd talk about how it's finally not him being humiliated.

Which gets a very snide remark. It leaves Karasu a little confused as he looks around.
    "Was that a goddamn Ghost?"

... Nah, Beacon wasn't haunted. He shakes that feeling off as he turns his attention to Weiss and Ruby, and finally steps over to them. "Hey... Are you two alright?"

Probably not the kind of question that Weiss wanted to hear, but hey. He's not exactly an expert at social interactions either. Hopefully this helps to diffuse things a little.

Vaneera couldn't help but smile at Motet's chosen disguise; she really liked matching outfits with her, for some reason. Not that Vaneera was going to complain about it. It worked pretty well to hide their more... Unique qualities compared to Humans. Even more fortunately, as the two of them drew closer to the city, it seemed as though the guards were a little distracted. They might not pay them any mind at all if they just keep things simple.

Motet could barely contain her excitement, though. But, it was pretty refreshing too. Vaneera much preferred seeing her happy like this.
"Yeah, just a bit more, and then we can get some decent rest for a change."

Not that it seemed like Motet was short on energy right now. Vaneera did whatever she could during their trip to make it easier on the both of them. But nothing was going to compare to civilization. Seems like Motet could barely contain herself now, too.

Vaneera is a little surprised when her hand is grabbed and Motet starts running, but she shakes off the confusion shortly and keeps pace with her.
"Haha... We'll have plenty of time to tour the city, Motet! Don't worry."

Even Vaneera couldn't keep up such a serious side for long. This was the first time in what felt like forever that they might actually be able to experience 'normal' again.

"Vale looks pretty nice... I guess we came at a good time.", she remarks as she glances at their newfound surroundings. "Where do you want to go first, Motet?"

Vaneera then queries. Might as well treat this like it was a vacation, right? It might as well be for them.

That being said... It seemed like they had some time before everything was going to start properly. Realizing that, Pyrrha shrugs a bit. "Well... I guess it's not like we're in a rush. Do you want to spend some more time together?"

It felt pretty nice, after all. Interacting with someone that didn't view her with all kinds of expectations. Even setting that aside, he seemed like a pretty nice guy too. "I wouldn't mind having some company."

The woman had closed her eyes in fear, perhaps this was the fate she deserved for her betrayal. But she could not help but wonder what would happen to her mother’s friend if she could not get to him in time. She…. She had to find SOMEWAY to get out of this situation, some way to get rid of this beast! She…

    SMACK

The sound rippled through her ears, and her eyes opened wide to see the cause. A man white head to toe had decided to attack the Vesper with…. A very poorly put together weapon. What was he thinking? The fool did not even know her! He was going to get himself KILLED for some stranger?

”Hey! Get out of here why you still can you idiot! You cannot harm this thing, I cannot ether it’s…

She may have sounded rude in her statement, but she did not want anyone to go dying for her. Mother had said humans could be hardheaded like this… but to see it for herself... no she would rather they hate her for her rudeness than have them get caught up in her affairs. However, she would be quickly interrupted in both her words and her thinking by a well… what she could only describe as a sonic boom. The beast heart this incoming sound, but it could do nothing to avoid it.

What the hell was that thing on her? Wings?

This attack had a much bigger effect than Alba’s had. It pushed the beast back and made it flinch, this had hurt, this had affected its hide… but it had not stopped it. The beast gave a low growl and threw back its head, breathing in the air around it…

The strange woman, standing at this point took one look at what the Vesper was doing and ran straight for the pair trying to help her.

”Down! Now! It’s going to… get DOWN!”

She didn’t have time to explain, instead tackling the pair out of the way as... a torrent of flames came from the beasts mouth?! It leaved a large scorch mark over the line of area they had just been in!
Panting the woman shook her head, calling out to the two.

”What are you thinking? Run! If it focuses on you you WON’T be able to run away later! Get out of here you two!’

The beast began to move towards them once more.

The woman stood up, readying her as she stared it down, she HAD to strike it down!

The heels of a woman in the distance as she closed the distance, getting closer and closer…
    ………………………………………………………………………………
    Ruby was in another world.

She of course had felt guilty when she ran into Weiss again, giving the biggest apologies she could muster out while the woman berated her once more, words lost in the sea of her anger. But once she mentioned her mom, it was Ruby’s turn to be mad. Before Weiss knew it Ruby had slapped the heiress right across her face!

”Don’t ever talk about my mom! You have no right!”

After her initial flare up Ruby simply… slumped to the ground though, her whole body. Tears filled he eyes as she tried to rub them away without any luck. It seemed this was a very rough subject for her…

”Mom was… the best huntress there was… my mom… Summer Rose… I… I promised and… I am going to be a great huntress just like she was! So.. so stop acting like you know everything, because I’m going to better than you’ve ever known, better than anyone, including you! just watch!”

Even saying that the tears did not stop, bringing up her mom in such a fashion…
It affected the young huntress in the worst way.
    ………………………………………………………………………..
Vaneera said they would have plenty of time, but she just could not wait! She didn’t let go of the girls hand, but it didn’t seem to affect Vaneera to much luckily. In fact it seemed like Vaneera was enjoying there time together to, that was wonderful!!  When Vaneera asked where she wanted to go first Motet gave her usual fanged smile and began jumping up and down. OH, she knew exactly where she wanted to go!

”Do they have boar? Wild boar vani? I wanna eat!”

Of course, the type of food Motet was talking about here was much more on the raw side than the people of Vale would likely be serving, Motet HAD once been feral after all, not that Vaneera let her eat that way anymore of course. But still, What about that sparkle in her eye? Who could deny such a feral innocence?

”Oh oh oh, Vani do they have places you want to go? We should go to the nicest hotel place they got! Your like a queen so you deserve the best bestist place they have!”

Motet admired Vaneera, more than anyone else. Vaneera was the only one Motet would always listen to, regardless of the situation. She had resolved to follow her anywhere and everywhere!

”Oh oh, we could order our meat couldn’t we? From a local shop!

….it might be best to fix the meat problem first though…
    ............................................
Amber, thankfully for herself did not make an outloud comment to snow’s comment about her stone cold exterior. Despite how in shame said woman was, how well toned and…

Amber blinked, steadying herself as the others spoke, just in time for Snow to mention her having a ‘powerful name’ Causing the girl to do another double take. D..did she know about her family? Had she really been figured out?! Oh god she wanted to avoid all this chaos, all the politics. She had to come up with an excuse and FAST!

”Oh no no it’s not THAT….”

Annnnd she only meant the sound of the name. The neet breathed a sigh of relief at the revelation. She… was not so sure of how a Snow described her name though. She was pretty much anything BUT strong. And reliable? She would rather stay in her room all day really. The compliment itself still made her blush though. Something she tried to shake away as quickly as possible so it would not be noticed.

    ”O…oh thanks Snow… that’s kind of you”

She couldn’t help giggle at Snow’s description of her sisters name. It seemed like they were rather close with each other.

She wished she could have a relationship like that…

Snow came to her, putting her big, strong hand on her shoulder to comfort her. She asked her what was wrong with her, and the blushing Amber hesitated to answer at first, remaining silent for a moment. But… they were nice enough people… and they helped her. If she was going to tell anyway… it should be people like them, right?

”I’ve never…. Had to work in a team before. Back home… I really did just do my work from home. Mom was going to…”

She paused, that was something she did not want to bring up, it really would make her heritage obvious.

”My circumstances were favorable… I… have no idea how to do it… and I… I can’t be sent back home, not now…”

She looked to the ground once more, having finished her explanation. Why did she not want to go home? Well, the girl was quite resistant to divulging that…

Penny shared the sentiment that "Alba Mars" was an excellent name. He smiled at her, glad to have her approval. After all, she helped contribute, so knowing she approved made it even better really.

"Glad we're in agreement then! You have no idea what it was like not knowing what to even call myself!"

Although upon seeing Penny's expression shift to one of shock after he complimented her Alba began to feel...A little bad. He started to wonder if maybe the compliment was too much. Had he taken it too far? It didn't seem like that bad of a compliment all things considered especially when it was basically a fact and not so much opinion, but maybe Penny was the type who just-...Alba's expression changed to one of sheer astonishment.

"Hah? Penny I was uh...I was referring to you there."

It kind of surprised him to see how far over her head that went...Was she not used to compliments? That'd explain a lot, but then it would be MORE surprising that no one had ever complimented her looks. She was cute as a button and her fashion sense while simple worked well to compliment her natural features. Maybe some people just weren't into freckles...But those 'some people' are those Alba would judge to have terrible taste.

"Don't tell me nobody's ever called you that?"

That aside...It seems this power-ginger was just as prepared to fight as he was! She insisted he shouldn't fight, but...He just gave her a grin, shaking his head. His mind had already been made up, he'd just have to tread carefully here.

"Don't worry about me! I'm not exactly combat ready but I think I can handle myself!"

One might think his bravery was misplaced, or maybe he was just suicidal, but it was a confidence that was grounded in reason. After all if Penny could effortlessly lift him up and sprint at full speed then there was no doubt in his mind she was more than capable in a fight. He knew for a fact he could rely on her, if not because he trusted her then DEFINITELY because she had already proven she was a powerhouse in a small package.

    ~After the Cafe...~

... So his gambit had failed spectacularly! But at the same time it wasn't as if he had done nothing, the beast's attention was drawn on him momentarily, buying that strange blue girl valuable time. Although it seems she objected to this...He just smiled at her, wagging a disapproving finger at her.

"You REALLY want me to leave when you've got a nasty wound on your leg? Besides I think it's a little late for me to run now!"

Before he could even think of a second plan the air itself seemed to boom to life. Alba turned just in time to see his friend impact this beast at the speed of sound. The strike was massive, not only pushing the creature away but leaving a massive mark in its hide. It was exactly as he had suspected - Penny wasn't just strong for show, she was every bit as "Combat Ready" as she had said. Although what it did next was something that Alba hadn't anticipated at all. Why was it breathing in air so much? Had Penny really hurt it THAT badly?

"Aww how cute, he's hurt so badly that he's sucking in-OH SHIT"

He realized right then what it was actually doing...Thank goodness this strange girl was there to push the pair out of the way. As the flames came barreling uncomfortably close to the trio, he could feel the sheer heat coming off of the blast. There was a LOT of power behind that...And he needed only to glance back at the street that had been ruined by scorch marks to confirm that this was the LAST thing any of them wanted to get caught by. He stood up, brushing himself off as he stepped up next to her, still smiling even as she scolded the pair for not running.

"You realize we're basically the only thing standing between you and a fiery death right? I might've just woken up a few hours ago but I'm still aware enough to realize when someone doesn't stand a chance by themselves! Besides...I'm not gonna leave someone to die even when I've bitten off more than I can chew!"

There had to be some way to knock this thing down for good...He scanned their immediate environment for something...ANYTHING. The lamp posts...That beast's swaying tail...Penny's raw strength...That was it!!!

"Good news! I think our chances of victory just went WAY up! Penny, think you could grab that thing's tail if we distracted it from the front?"

Alba wastes no time in grabbing a chunk of the street that had been broken free by the massive creature's assault.

"Once its focus is on us, you've gotta run as fast as you can between all the street lamps while holding onto that tail!"

He spins around while holding the heavy concrete tightly, stopping suddenly and releasing it, while there was very little force behind it, it was tossed with JUST enough strength to fly right towards the Vesper. He wasn't aiming to hurt it this time though...He was entirely focused on trying to anger it.

Amber finally opened up, revealing just what it was eating away at her. So she had never worked in a team despite having gone to Atlas Academy...Snow wondered just how someone could become a huntress if they never left their bedroom, but now wasn't the best time to ask questions like that. It gave a curious insight into just who Amber was. So her family was quite well off...But setting that aside, it wasn't as though this girl was alone in her inexperience.

"Wait, is that all that's wrong? Snow and I have never been on a team before either! ... But, we've also never been to a huntsmen academy so...Never had the chance I guess!"

Amber's blushing in response to everything Snow did didn't escape the younger sister's notice...But just like Snow's questions, Veronica decided asking about such things was better left to later when this introvert was a little more open. In either case Snow gave a nod, agreeing with Veronica's statement.

"It is an unfortunate truth that I have never had to cooperate with others. I suppose I...Lack the knowledge of how best to work with other people. I'm not particularly interested in teamwork. I merely wish to use the role of a huntress to further my own goals."

Veronica frowns as she looks to her elder sister, elbowing Snow subtly.

    "Not exactly helping sis..."

Veronica then steps forward, looking up at the slightly taller Amber with a calm smile.

"You won't have to go back home! We're gonna help you. You want Snow's help right?"

Snow raises an eyebrow, looking down at her younger sister with confusion.

"I can't say I understand what she's elaborating on, but...Yes I suppose if my assistance will help you, I will simply have to guide you into the lifestyle of a beacon student. Perhaps touring the academy will help put you at ease? The three of us can take a look around while we wait for the results."

    Veronica nods enthusiastically!

"That's a great idea! Familiarity breeds comfort after all!"

At Karasu's questioning of where the mysterious voice came from, another complaint rings out loud and clear, making the "ghost"'s displeasure all the more known at this current moment.

    "OH COME ON!"

Weiss huffs as Karasu approaches, glancing to him with a smile on her face.

"Finally someone with some decorum! Maybe you can talk some sense into this boorish little girl!"

In all of her heated ranting however, Weiss failed to notice Ruby's entire personality change. The younger huntress in training lashing out came as a complete surprise, and the slap practically stunned the heiress as she stood silently listening to Ruby speak. An idle hand placed carefully against the mark across her face.

    "..."

It all stunned her into silence, the way Ruby spoke, her sadness, her determination...It was so much like...Weiss herself had been when she left home. It took everything in her power to speak up.

    "Have I...Made a mistake...?"

She realized that this girl she had criticized so harshly was merely trying to make an image for herself...All the same as what Weiss herself was trying to accomplish. Though she still didn't exactly care for this strange clumsy child, that single slap made the heiress stop and think for a moment...And realize that perhaps she had been TOO harsh in her criticism. After all being told to just go back home would have made HER angry as well. And besides that it seems...Ruby had some personal family problems. Weiss wasn't about to pry into it however, it wasn't her place and she wouldn't have wanted anyone to do the same for her.

So the heiress relents...Weiss sighs, finally releasing her face where she had been slapped and...Hesitantly extending a hand outwards towards the girl now sitting on the ground, offering to help her out in a showing of good faith.

"Hmph. I suppose I made an error in my judgement and...We may not have had the best first impressions. My name is Weiss Schnee. A pleasure to make your acquaintance."

Whether or not Ruby accepted the offer to be helped up off of the ground, Weiss would brush off her clothes, trying her best to play it cool despite the regret she was feeling right now. It was only right for a noblewoman such as herself to try to start off right what once went wrong after all.

"I can't say I have the same role models but I wish you luck all the same."

If one really read between the lines they'd realize Weiss was VERY apologetic...And had clearly realized what she did wrong. But she wasn't about to admit as much.

"Sure, why not. We got some time to kill" I reply to her, with a smile. She reminds me of cereal, yet she doesnt smell like cereal.

    ~During the Cafe...~

Penny's shock turned to a shy embarrassment as he clarified what he meant. Yep, that blush-filled face with the small smile was back. Seems that she liked receiving comments like that. That raised all sorts of questions, like who really never bothered to call her that? Seriously!

"Oh, well... I guess it's because my interactions with others are a little limited.", she admits. Not exactly a lie in this case! She just wasn't telling the whole story.

Either way... Fun little moments like that could only last for so long with that beast running rampant. The two of them had been resolved to take care of this little interruption.

    ~On the battlefield...~

Penny came to a rather clean stop after she gave that beast more than a slight shove. She didn't lower her guard yet though, because that wasn't going to be enough to take it down. Still, the general appearance it had, and the very solid mass that it had... That was no Grimm. It was a genuine, flesh and blood creature. That raised so very many questions that would have to be left for later.

Especially since it appeared to be charging a larger attack now! Penny was about to spring into action until the very timely intervention of the blue woman, tackling both her and Alba to the ground so that the flames were narrowly evaded. The rescuee was also pretty insistent that the two of them get out of here before the enemy focuses on them. But Penny simply shakes her head and stands up.
"Worry not! Now that I know what to expect from it, I can handle this!"

The Android replied, and then she shifted her attention to listen to Alba's plan. "Oh... I see what you're up to! You can count on me!", she answers with a thumbs up.

That being said, considering the mass and strength that it had, trying to utilize the lamp posts wasn't going to work... But she had something that would work just as well! Alba worked fast as well, what he threw at the beast was enough to get it's attention, and it certainly didn't look happy with the constant distractions.

But that was also enough for Penny to move in the blindspot and grab it by the tail! The Android didn't just go for trying to trap it with the lamp posts, though. No, instead... Those 'wings' of hers kick into full gear, and she starts to lift into the air... With the damn thing still in tow!

    ".... Hrrrgghh...!"

A low growl escaped between her teeth. Lifting this thing wasn't easy, especially since it was more than likely struggling now! But she was persistent, and getting it off the ground would give it less leverage aside from flailing wildly in the air. But just to ensure that things went a little more smoothly, she also deployed a few of her swords in gun-form and had them fire lasers at the creature's limbs, ensuring that if it had managed to dug in anywhere, it'd be a little harder to hold on.

She was pulling out all the stops, and if she actually managed to SUCCEED in lifting it off the ground, that's when she'd start kicking things into even higher gear than before. Now deploying the last of her swords to wrap around the creature with nearly invisible strings, she'd begin to spin mid-air, picking up momentum.

It culminates in her shifting hard in the air, intent on slamming the large creature full-force into the ground!
    "Time for your nap!!"

... Well. Alba wanted an opening. He certainly got one. Even something as large as that was going to be momentarily stunned in the wake of such an attack.

There it was again! Where the hell was that voice coming from? Karasu glances around trying to spot the source, but no luck. "The hell... Is Beacon haunted or something?"

Still... That little issue aside, it seems as though things between Weiss and Ruby had gotten very heated. He was hoping to be able to diffuse the situation -- but then again, once he was in the thick of it he wasn't even sure how to go about doing that. Maybe it was the kind of thing they just had to resolve for themselves...

That didn't change how he felt about seeing it play out though. Ruby was understandably upset about Weiss's comments, and a slap across the face was what had been delivered. For his part, he had been stunned into silence when that happened. Not many people would actually lay hands on an heir to such a wealthy company. He was almost certain that Weiss would only let loose on the poor girl even more.

But what happened next ended up being rather surprising. Weiss seemed to accept that she had taken things too far, and in her own way, apologized and tried to make amends for it... Hopefully this would mean they wouldn't be at each other's throats the entire time they were at Beacon.

"Well... This isn't how I thought things would go." he commented. Granted there was still Ruby's reaction to all of this.

But Karasu had the feeling that Ruby might not hold a grudge for long, if Weiss was sincere about it, and she certainly seemed to be.

It took a little bit for Vaneera to finally relax some, but between the fact that they WEREN'T being given odd stares everywhere they went, and that they were in a safe place for a change... Well, for the first time in awhile, she was able to lower her guard. If Motet paid close enough attention, she might even see Vaneera breathe a sigh of relief in the midst of all this.

Although it's not like it was going to be COMPLETELY complication free. It was still Vaneera and Motet, you know!
"I'm sure we can find some food, yes... But we're going to have it cooked, Motet."

Still... It was pretty clear what Motet wanted; the nicest place they could find to stay at, some good food, and more than likely the final reasons for Vaneera to take a break already. Motet might have been struggling with her instincts more, but she could still tell when Vaneera was pushing herself too hard.

And that was pretty much the entire trip to Vale in a nutshell; Vaneera not really giving herself any time to properly rest so that they'd both make it safely.

"Alright, let's find something to eat first. I don't think you can wait much longer at this rate.", Vaneera replies with a small, knowing grin.

"We'll find a nice place to rest up at afterwards.", Vaneera then adds.

Well, the course was clear; find a place to eat at! If that was the case, their best bet might be to check the Main Street. With a little bit of guidance here and there, she was able to steer Motet int hat direction... Eventually.

And now they could actually start looking at their options for restaurants and shops. Vale did have a pretty nice variety. Certainly more than they ever would have seen in the smaller settlements, much less out in the wild.

"Wow... We have so many options to work with."

Vaneera was that she could come up with a selection in due time, but she also had this sneaking suspicion that Motet's stomach would make the decision for them... It usually did when it came to food.

Pyrrha seems rather ecstatic that he accepted! Of course, she does try to dial it back after her initial happiness. "Right! So you mentioned earlier that you were sort of into robotics as well... Anything you might want to share in that field? It sounds interesting!"

Most people just wanted to talk about her, and it's not like she hated sharing her own experiences or people being curious -- but it got a little exhausting. This was the first time she'd been given free reign on someone else, in a manner of speaking. From the way she looked, she was listening intently to any word he might have to offer as well.

”Wow, you’re the second Rose today! Are you two related?”

”Obviously not mam, it’s just coincidence, I’m sure there are many  people with the name rose in the world”

The young woman spoke matter of factly, hands to her chin in thought. It had of course been of interest to her at first. This Ruby who shared her last name. But it had not lasted exceptionally long ether. After all it was mother who gave her, the name rose, it was not a simple family name that was passed down as, as far as she knew her mother did not possess one. Yet she still gave her one…. It was one of the many things she was grateful for.

It was also why she knew sharing one with this woman called Ruby was pure coincidence. Her last name was a gift from mother and so, it could not be the same as anyone else’s.

After giving the teacher the relevant info needed for her transfer to Beacon she went on to the amphitheater with the other new students. Of course, she paid enough attention to know what would be going on, but she also took notice of Ozpin. He was exactly as mother said. The man acted as if he cared about people, yet he came across as a know-it-all prick to her. It irked her to no end that she would have to act with decorum around this half-baked, half tossed old man. In fact, the only thing that could cheer her up as she walked about the school’s free area was her baby, her precious Azure Thorn. She held her precious gun in her hands, rubbing It down, cooing to it as she shifted it between its various chambers, each one contained a different type of dust, each effective in a different situation. Yes, guns were true the pinnacle of combat weaponry, and hers was the top of them all!

RWBY: Forces of Grimm - Page 2 Azure_Thorn

    ”Mmmmmm Now THAT’S a revolver~”

The girl gave a content sigh, her body shivering with the anticipation she felt, then she continued her observations of those around her. It was after all her goal to make sure things moved along smoothly.

That was best for everyone after all~
    ……………………………………………………………….
She apologized, the mean woman…. Apologized to her. Her anger melted away as quickly as it had come as soon as she had. In fact as Weiss held a hand out to her Ruby could only think about how she had just SLAPPED the snowy woman, and how guilty she felt about it already. The feelings wracked her…. Sure she had been upset but… that was just no excuse!

”N…no I’m sorry, are you ok? I just… I guess I’m still sensitive when it comes to mom, she wouldn’t have wanted me to act like this though… so I’m sorry Weiss, for this and… again for ruining your Dust supply”

Ruby nodded as Weiss helped her to her feet. She took the time to dust herself off and wipe away the last of her drying tears. She then rubbed her cheeks together to try and sike herself up. Then blurted out

    ”HI WEISS I’M RUBY ROSE!”

For a moment she paused looking towards the ground, then she looked up, a thoughtful expression on her face.

”Hey Weiss…. Are we friends now? Can we be? Yang really wants me to make but… I am just so bad at it and… I’m not sure I really want to. You seem… not as mean as I thought so… maybe if were friends she’ll leave me alone about it….”

Ruby sighed, clearly nervous as she asked the question, rubbing her folded up Cresent Rose to try and comfort herself.

    ”That’s well… if you want to anyway…..”

She turned to Karasu as well, the guilt was still written all over her face.
    ”Sorry for causing a scene…”
    ……………………………………………………………………………………
Snow and Veronica had not been on team’s ether? But… but they seemed so unphased by the concept! As far as Amber could tell they did not even look remotely worried about it all. Well, they were also normal people she supposed, people who actually interacted with society. She… almost never did, in fact she made it a point not to whenever she could. Still, it… comforted her some to know she was not alone. Heck, Snow only wanted to use the role to further her own goals.

”Mom wants me to follow in the tradition of our family, swear myself in service to our goddess beside her. But… I do not want that…. It is just… too much. We do not even know if she is the real deal… and even if she was it is not like we have the relic for the ceremony anymore. Sigh…. I just… I want to be a normal hunter. I would like to help people. Though I wish I could do to from the back lines…”

Wow that probably sounded really pathetic of her, she was sure it did compared to Snow’s own determination. Here she was whimpering about not wanting to do her duty while Snow was steadfast… strong… stalwart… mmmm she wished she would grab a hold of her with those big strong…

She also probably did not get distracted like this.

”Oh you don’t like teams ether Snow? Its hard isn’t it? No… you probably have an easy time interacting with people. Me its… hard, being around so many people. I can hardly stand it…”

Veronica addressed her, and Amber blushed, fiddling with her fingers nervously and pushing back a lock of her hair.

”W….well yeah, I… I would like her help. She’s so big and strong and… helpful…”

Said strong and helpful woman now spoke to her, offering her help as a guide to help her getting comfortable with the area, along with her sister of course. At that Amber smiled lightly, and nodded. That did sound.. really nice.

”You both really don’t mind? I…. I think I would like that”
    ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
In truth Motet had seen some commotion in the distance, normally she would have been all over finding it and having some fun… but not this time. Vani had only just been able to calm down, she would not allow her to get stressed again! To that effect whenever combat with the beast drew close to where they were Motet covertly pushed Vaneera into a new shop she could not wait to try, and applied a noise canceling device to a branch outside, which she then manipulated to ensure Vaneera heard not a single thing outside.

They were HAVING there fun day together dang it!

She sulked a bit when Vaneera resolved that they have it cooked, a pout clear on her face. But that took so long! She wanted to eat her food noowwww right off the source! Still… Vaneera had said there was a reason not to, something about health concerns. Did they even have health concerns still though…? Hmmm she supposed they must if Vani was worried about it.

”Fineeeee ok van van… but I need something nowwwww, Besides were going to get you resting and relaxing! No arguments vani!”

As wild as she was Motet very much recognized how hard Vaneera worked, as hard as anyone she knew! As awesome as it was it often meant Motet had to get her partner to actually rest, she’d probably just keep going on forever if she didn’t!

Food and then rest… the girl jumped up and down in excitement, it was a plan, she gave a wide, fang glowing smile in turn, nodding her head happily.

Vaneera carefully looked over the selection as they got to mainstreet, Motet however? She saw a local restaurant, Meat Stuff Joe’s and immeidlty zoned in on it.

”Vani there! That place, it serves lots of meat! Lots!”

As predicted… Motet’s stomach had definitely decided for them.
    ………………………………………………………………………………….

”Y…yes! Such a wound is paltry! It is not worth having more lives risked, more so one so… inexperienced in combat to begin with!”

Her words may have sounded harsh, but she simply did not want any humans getting hurt on her behalf. It was not that she had a massive concern for them, but her mother liked humans…. The idea of something her mother loved getting hurt…. Well… it brought pain to her heart.
As she hovered over the two after tackling them out of the way she sighed.

”Vesper are attuned with the forces of nature from birth…. It lets them pull off some… really powerful things with just their breath. Do you see why I wanted you to flee…?”

She was not sure if it was stubbornness, bravery, or stupidity but they did not listen to her instead charging the creature once more. Well, the android did anyway. Alba seemed to have a plan in mind, though what it could possibly be she could only imagine. What were they up to…?
The beast attempted to charge Alba, his distraction having exactly the intended effect as it did not notice as Penny came behind it… and began lifting it straight into the air! But it was not going to simply go without a fight. Flame spewed from its mouth, smaller jets than before, it raged and flailed but as Penny held it from behind it could not actually strike her, only make her job that much harder. Lasers barraged the beast, the source of this it did swat away as it hit it, roaring in rage!

And then she tossed it, and it began spiraling back towards the ground. Where it landed a huge greater formed, and smokey dust pushed out everywhere. However… this served to enrage the beast even more. Alba may well have gotten an opening… if the beasts roar had not sounded, if its fiery breath had not shot forth once more in the young man’s direction, as if the beast were smart enough to discern the battle tactics being used against it. Though…. It would not be able to see the entrant of a new combatant. An older woman arrived on the scene, her whip at the ready, her first strike was a lashing, to get the beast’s attention from the young man. From there, before the beast could bear its fangs at her ice radiated through her and LASH, the beasts mouth was frozen shut. From Here the woman gracefully avoided the beasts attacks, leading it along until, seemingly out of nowhere two large pieces of wood slammed right into it!

RWBY: Forces of Grimm - Page 2 Glynda

”Normally I reserve my power for more peaceful use but… this is a special occasion, we cannot afford any unneeded damage”

The beast roared out in rage, the energy in the woman’s whip changed to a bright flame as she lashed out once more… the flames caught the wood and created a towering fire that consumed the beast in flame! When it at least stopped the beasts hide was now charred and cracked…. But it was still moving! With a grant the older woman manipulated some of the sticks of firing still containing powerful heat to surround the beast, containing it in one spot, she then moved to address the rather overconfident young man, adjusting her glasses and giving him a stern look.

”You stated before you had a plan, I suggest you now implement it, we must contain this creature, I shall hold it in place, it shall fall… I am hoping with as little damage as possible”

Whatever Alba’s plan had been, it would pierce the monster hide, giving it its last breath as it collapsed to the ground.

The young ogre woman gave a gasp of genuine surprise. How had they managed to take down one of there beasts? Even she could not…

”I…. How? How did you do that?!”

At this point the older woman stepped forward, addressing those present with a stern, fixed look, one that one might feel could bury into their soul.

”And what were any of you thinking fighting this creature? I will give you a pat on the back for protecting this woman, but the way in which you did sloppy and foolhardy! Hmph, that being said I cannot deny your bravery ether, it was impressive of both of you”

Her eyes turned to the blue skin woman for a moment… it was rare to see something like her, was it the result of a semblance?

Well, the only reward the young woman gave her was a ‘hmph’ her arms crossed.

Yep, this was going to be hard…

Even now this strange blue girl continued to protest their intervention, insisting that her wound was nothing. He could only shake his head in disagreement.

"If you're gonna say something like that then at least make sure you're not shaking when you do. You're damn right I'm inexperienced! But there's no way I can just ignore something like this. Call it a fool's pride, call it suicide, call it whatever you like. This is just something I want to do!"

The truth was a little more complicated than what he let on however...It wasn't just that he wanted to...No, it was like there was some intangible force driving him towards a singular truth. Whoever this girl was, she needed to live. She HAD to survive. It was a feeling that wouldn't allow him to just ignore her desperate struggle. ... But why? He didn't understand at all. He hardly knew who he was, much less why some almost instinctual drive was pushing him to fight a battle he had no chance of winning.

But thankfully the android girl's acceptance of his plan shook him out of his stupor. Alba gave a confident grin once Penny chimed in that she understood what he was planning. He suspected it wouldn't be hard to follow, especially for someone as talented as this girl. He simply gave her a thumbs up in return, watching as she took off at blinding speeds once he had managed to draw the Vesper's attention. What she did next threw him for a loop though...She ended up not tying its tail around the lamp posts, but instead lifted the beast half-way into the air through sheer strength!

He watched silently as it desperately tried to lash out at the girl to no avail. But this strange blue girl's desperate pleas managed to shake him awake once again.

"So it's called a Vesper huh? Yeah I can see why you'd not want to get someone else involved in fighting something this nasty! Huhuhu~...Too bad I don't know any better!"

Naturally Alba flinched as it charged at him. But thankfully his plan had paid off. With Penny holding this thing tightly, it was unable to charge more than a couple of inches forward. Knowing that all that stood between him and a painful death was a single girl with a strong grip did concern him a little...But he trusted Penny. Even as he was shaking down to his very core, reminding himself that he wasn't alone was enough to keep Alba from breaking down entirely. He grabbed this strange girl by the hand and dashed out of the way as the vesper telegraphed its flame attack once again. Making it to a safe spot where the two of them could avoid the flame blast. But before Alba could act on the rest of his plan...A sudden blast of lasers hit this thing?! Wow, Penny sure was something! And then the slam straight into the street caused the whole area to shake a little bit...Alba winced slightly, imagining the kind of pain that forceful slam would cause.

"Good going Penny! Alllright, time to put an end to this!"

But before he could even move onto the next step, it shot flame without a telegraph?! Alba narrowly managed to dive out of the way as the searing heat of the flame breath reminded him once more of just how outmatched he was compared to this creature of pure destruction. He rolled to a stop, trying to get his bearings as it approached...It was struck from behind? This time it wasn't Penny's doing at all, but a stern bespectacled older woman. Her skill was...Undeniable, even compared to Penny it was like this lady was on another level entirely. She gracefully dodged its attacks and sealed up the wretched thing's mouth with ice.

    "Wow...The cavalry's here I guess!"

Alba slowly got up, shaking off the disorientation he had received from narrowly avoiding the flames. He took the opportunity while massive wooden spikes struck the vesper, throwing it into a wall. The energy coming off of this woman was almost enough to disorient him more than the vesper's attacks were, and as she turned to glare that stern look at him...He could feel powerful intent burn right into his soul.

    ""Uh...Right! A plan! I've definitely got one!"

... He didn't sound particular certain about that...But regardless it was too late for him to admit he only had a plan up to distracting it. He would just have to wing it! He looked around quickly, scanning the environment once more for something that would help...But the only thing he could find this time is something that would require direct involvement on his part...A sword sheathed at the blue girl's side. Fear gripped him tightly...Alba took a deep breath, clenching his fists. Even though he was afraid...Even though he didn't think he could do it...He had to!

He rushed forward, grabbing the sword and pulling it free from its sheath! He stumbled slightly, not expecting the weight it had behind it, but he quickly recovered and ran forward towards the trapped vesper!

"I'm not gonna let you do whatever you want anymore!"

The beast on death's door still desperately tried to fight for its life, lashing out with a claw swipe right towards him, he hopped to the side, the sword's heavy weight almost pulling him straight to the ground as one foot left the ground. But he gritted his teeth tightly and shifted his body forward, recovering quickly enough to return to his advance! The flames were thankfully low enough that a simple leap was enough to clear them. His heart beat heavily in his chest as he raced right towards the vesper's head, the source of those flames...If it wasn't for the ice surrounding its maw, it could fry him instantly. He shook his head, trying to push such concerns to the back of his mind, and he rushed right under the vesper's lower jaw, drawing the sword forward

"Take this you bastard! This is everything I've got!!"

Alba brought the sword to his side, reeling back and ready to stab. This action caused his balance to go off slightly, but rather than stumble...This time he extended a leg outwards, digging his foot into the shattered pavement below, and with all of his strength put behind a single motion...He thrust the blade upwards straight into the beast's neck!

    "RrrAAAGHHHHHHHHHH!!!"

A fountain of blood poured out onto him as he lodged the blade securely into the creature's throat. He stepped back out of the way as it finally fell. It was finally over...He slouched over, placing his hands on his knees to keep himself propped up. The ogre girl's expression of shock was like a switch being flipped in Alba's brain as he stood upright and looked back at her, a bashful expression on his face.

    "...Hehe, just lucky I guess!"

... His reaction to all of this was enough to floor anyone.

Alba physically recoiled in fear as Glynda gave a glance that could fry someone's soul if she had the intent to do so. She lectured both him AND Penny in regards to their intervention. He rubbed the back of his neck, laughing awkwardly before trying to explain.

"Listen, this was all my idea so don't be too hard on my friend...Uh, that being said! I admit that I kinda...Didn't think. At all. My body sorta just...Moved on its own. And in my defense! I think I did pretty good for somebody with no memories don't you think?"

... He didn't make a very convincing argument for someone literally drenched in blood.

Swear herself in service of their goddess? So Amber's family was a religious one? That explained why her mother was so strict, but it still didn't explain the other details. Amber's words struck an odd chord, as if they were on a personal basis with their goddess rather than that of a fervent believer following from a distance. But whatever her family situation was like, it was clear Amber didn't share those views, simply wanting to be a huntress who worked from behind the scenes. Snow nodded in understanding to Amber's plight.

"Curious...And I suppose you're here to get away from your mother then?"

Veronica scratched the top of her head, tilting it in confusion as she did so.

"UUuuuummm...But I've never heard of a huntress who fights from the sidelines..."

Snow looks over at her younger sister, shaking her head.

"Huntsmen and Huntresses fill countless roles and each fight in their own unique ways. We've never heard of a huntress like that but that doesn't mean there is no precedent to speak of. ... That being said I cannot see where your services would be better spent out of the way. We need every able bodied man and woman to fight the grimm threat after all."

Snow simply gave a stern nod as Amber realized they both didn't like teams. It was true, although...Chances were they disliked teams for entirely separate reasons.

"Yes. I find cooperation will only slow me down. I intend to raise Remnant from its humble seat into something to be revered. I can't do that in service of a team who do not share my goals. ... But if I don't do this I will never realize my full potential. So I begrudgingly accept that for the next four years I will have to play along with whatever my chosen allies wish."

Veronica giggled at both Snow's monologue, and Amber's shyness.

"Yeah yeah you two, let's go! We've got a whole campus to see!"

Veronica lead the way, heading out of the amphitheater right into the middle of Beacon as the sun shined down brightly. People walked to and fro making this place feel...Extra alive. People who were in the same boat as these three, those who had come here hoping to further themselves and maybe serve for the sake of others. They walked past a gathered crowd that was slowly starting to disperse.

    "Wonder what they're looking at?"

Snow sighs, shaking her head as she comments.

    "Something ridiculous I'm sure."

Their walk took them to Beacon's gardens. A peaceful quiet area filled with plant life. Trees, flowers, fountains that helped to accentuate the connection to nature this area had...Benches filled with both students and visitors alike simply taking in the scenery, the sound of bird song echoing above. It was...A very nice spot. It only stood to reason why it would be enjoyed by so many people.

"Isn't this great?! Someone here's really dedicated to flowers! Just like papa, Snow!"

For once Snow actually managed to smile...Though it was only a small one, it was such a strange sight for anyone to see. It seems there were still things that touched the cold girl's heart.

"I suppose it is quite tranquil, just like the garden we had back home. This would be an excellent place for introspection...Perhaps I will keep it in mind for later."

Weiss sighs, looking over at Karasu as he comments on not expecting any of this. She nods with her eyes closed and her expression an annoyed one.

"That makes two of us...Beacon has become a lot more complicated than I anticipated..."

The heiress nods as Ruby asks if she's okay. It wasn't like this was the first slap she had received after all, and it probably wouldn't be the last with the way she was carrying herself. Her father, her mother, and her sister Winter, they had all delivered their own damning slaps to this girl's face more than once, and with the defiance she showed to her father there were likely to be more in the future... That much she accepted however.

"It happens a lot in Atlas's high society believe it or not. Although...You really need to put more weight behind it."

A small smirk crosses Weiss's face for a moment as she jokingly critiques Ruby's slapping power. But the smirk soon fades as she takes thing seriously, listening to Ruby explain about her problems.

"I suppose we all have our family issues. As for the dust...Consider it forgotten. I can easily have it replaced after all. Just be more careful in the future. Dust is not a toy! It's a highly volatile compound that could seriously injure you if you're not careful. Here, you'll want to read this!"

The heiress extended a hand that was holding a pamphlet out towards the younger student. A pamphlet from the Schnee dust company titled "Dust safety and you!" Although Weiss recoiled slightly as Ruby loudly blurted out her name, it was...Just like this dolt really...But she hadn't expected it so suddenly. Ruby immediately went into asking if they were friends and if they could become as such...All because of someone named "Yang"? The Heiress was internally sweating being put on the spot like this...It wasn't like she could just coldly reject this girl after she had made an effort to correct herself, plus...There were still people watching...Weiss sighs.

"Let's...Just start with acquaintances and go from there okay?"

"Since my father worked on robots, he taught me my trade while... I was bored at home with nothing to do." I replied "Not just robots, I'd work on machinery like turrets to protect my home. ...And my village, of course. I have a little understanding of Atlus's robots. While I cant remotely hack into them, I do know what makes them tick." I explained to her.

Fearing Im getting a little boring, I ask her a simple question. "So, what about you?"

The battle was certainly proving to be intense, and while Penny would have loved to jump right back into combat, her systems were already warning her about her energy levels being critical -- not her Aura, thankfully. That was still doing fine. But she definitely pushed herself by rough-housing that Vesper so much. Unfortunately that meant that everything was in the hands of Rivala and Alba at the moment.

"I need a moment to recover. Be careful!"

She called out her warning. Even with how much damage the beast had taken, it still had plenty of power to throw around -- that thing wasn't proving to be an easy fight at all... And Alba had effectively been cut off from any path forward, despite Penny's best efforts. When it seemed like the battle might take a turn for the worse, the tides suddenly shift with the timely intervention of Glynda Goodwitch.

The much more experienced woman puts on an effortless display that keeps the weakened enemy from being able to rage as fiercely as it had done before. It's thanks to that fact that Alba was able to land the finishing blow.... And unfortunately see himself positively drenched in blood after the fact.

"Oh...", escaped Penny's lips as she then approaches Alba, scanning him for any signs of damage. Fortunately, it looks like he's okay! Just... Needs a good cleaning, along with those clothes.

"Well, I guess we'll need to find you a change of clothes after cleaning you up...", she admits with a smile.

That being said, Glynda is pretty quick with the criticism of their handling of this battle too. That.... Wasn't entirely unfair. Despite Penny's best efforts, her whole idea was basically using brute strength against it, which might have worked if she had backup, but when it was an injured woman and someone with absolutely zero formal combat training...

"We didn't have much choice... It's not like we could just leave her alone with that thing.", Penny replies, but she does seem rather apologetic about the mess regardless.

Wow, talk about quick recoveries! Even Karasu couldn't help but flinch when Ruby shouted her name like that. "W-... Well! I guess all's well that ends well?"

He lets out a small sigh as Ruby then proceeds to apologize to him as well for making such a scene in the first place. He calmly shakes his head afterwards. "Don't worry about it. School just... Seems to do this. It's always been noisy and chaotic, at least the one I went to before Beacon was."

Still... Yang definitely seemed like a handful. But he could sort of understand what she was trying to do with Ruby here. The girl seemed to lack just as much social experience as he did. Although on different levels. In his case, he just didn't really know how to act in "civilized society", outside of accepting jobs from clients.

Being a Mercenary was a pretty different world from being a Student, that was for sure...
"Well. I guess you're pretty familiar with both of us at this point, Ruby."

This was pretty less like stepping onto a landmine and more like taking a nosedive onto it full force, but... "You can consider me a friend, if you want."

Weiss may now start questioning his decision making skills.

Well, with the crowd dispersing now... Karasu was able to get a better look around for that 'ghost' he was so worked up about before. But instead of spotting any mysterious specters, he instead sights a young girl -- even younger than Ruby! That was something... Looked like she was pretty good with weapons, too.

Out of curiosity, he begins to approach. Getting a better look at her, he could see a resemblance between her and Ruby... But maybe that was coincidental. Either way, he also spotted the Revolver in her hands, and that thing looked pretty well made.

He can't help but give off a slightly drawn whistle.
"You aren't kidding. Revolvers like that are impossible to come by. That a masterwork passed down through your family?"

Karasu proceeds to cross his arms... Normally, he wouldn't make a comment like this, but he's still a guy. He can be attracted to girls. It's not like Sapphire looked THAT young. "You're pretty cute, by the way."

Whether by some miracle, twist of fate, or Motet meddling a whole hell of a lot -- Vaneera didn't notice all the chaos involving that Vesper or the battle around it. In fact, let me narrow it down for you, it was precisely because of Motet's meddling. Honestly, it seemed like her friend was even more energetic than usual, Vaneera was practically being pushed and shoved around to new destinations!

"Haha, calm down, Motet! You're not gonna starve, I promise.", she replies, rather comically missing the point of why Motet was so insistent on moving Vaneera elsewhere...

After a few odd twists and turns, they'd end up at the place that Motet was very happy to see; a meat shop, of course. "I guess your tastes haven't really changed much, huh?"

She teases lightly, but goes along with it... Meat Stuff Joe's was a pretty odd name, though. But then again, maybe it was just normal naming convention in Vale? Either way, once inside they'd have free reign to get just about anything that sounded good to them.

Vaneera decided it best to see if they had any boar meat. Fortunately, they did have some rather quality cuts. One quick transaction later and now they'd have some food to prepare for later.
"That takes care of the food, now to find a nice place to stay at so we can cook it."

Now, the question was, how was Motet going to handle moving outside? If that fight was still going on...

Pyrrha seemed pretty excited to hear his story, even as "mundane" as it was, it still seemed special to her. "I see... So it's less robotics, more anything to do with technology! It sounds like it must be pretty difficult."

She certainly wouldn't know where to start on robots, or turrets... Or any of the other high tech things that he implied to have worked on before. He even apparently knew a bit about the Atlas bots and how they functioned, which was quite the resume he had in all.

No wonder he'd earned a spot at Beacon. Maybe there were a lot of people like this? In this case, she might fit in better than she thought... But, setting that aside for now!

"Me? Well, I'm a pretty skilled fighter... Actually, I sort of have an undefeated streak. It's part of why I was able to come straight to Beacon like this. Although I'm probably more of a local celebrity."

At least, she secretly hoped. Having fans was equal parts nice but also a little stressful....

Some rando came upon her, apparently, they heard the comment she made about her gun, Hmph, well it seemed at least that a few of the people here knew could craftsmanship when they saw it at least. Hand on her hip she turned to observe the man in question. He was not an overly bad looking person she supposed ether.

’Sort of, my mother gifted it to me, it’s a treasure and…”

She pressed a button on the revolver, and it shifted in form, becoming a large, bladed yet still mechanical weapon. In fact, if one had already been paying attention to a certain girl’s weapon, they’d notice it was just a more blue version of said weapon, with the slot for the dust supply in a cushioned spot behind the main blade. Well, it was….

    ”It is also a scythe”

Then the boy said something that rocked Sapphire, no truly it rocked her world, shook her to her very core. It made her emotions flare, it made her heart soar.
Yes, for he called her cute!

Something clicked in her mind and Karasu would soon the girl’s arms wrapped tightly; one might even say forcefully around one of his own.

”Oh yes, you are interesting~ I shall make you mine~”

Sapphire looked around her and then, well…. She began dragging Karasu along with her! It was rather ironic considering the request she was about to make of the man.

”Come on, show me around this Beacon place”

Yes it was very ironic, with Sapphire the one dragging Karasu along…..
    …………………………………………………….
Mission success! Motet had successfully prevented her partner from taking notice of whatever chaos was going on in the town. Funnily enough it seemed to die down after a while, much to her luck. Good, that meant she and Vani could really enjoy themselves! Luckly for her Van had only taken it as her being very hungry. Which, to be fair that was also true. Yes, and soon she would be able to dine on some nice… delicious raw… wait Vaneera said she could not…. well… she could still have MEAT anyway!

”Of course Vani! You say I am not allowed to get it the other way unless we must hunt, so a meat shop is ok right? Meat is awesome! You like it to right? It’s just so naturally yummy and juicy….”

Motet trailed off, beginning to drool as she dragged Vaneera in and they placed their orders. Lucky for them they did in fact have the boar she so craved right now. She could not WAIT to enjoy it when they got to where they were staying! Unfortunately for her as they walked Motet caught sight of the group that had been fighting earlier in the distance. How did she know that? Why, because of the fallen beast right there! Luckly for her however Vaneera had not yet caught sight of it herself. There was only one way to avoid this. She would have to use every ounce of cunning she had at her disposal to insure they got past this area without Vaneera seeing the hulking beast

Their was only one thing she could do…..

    ”Vani lets dance!”

Then she grabbed a hold of Vaneera and they began to spin, for something meant to distract Vaneera it was rather elegant display, with Motet putting everything she had into it. However it was as one might expect also a mobile and very quick dance to get them past that which must not be seen, In fact Motet even timed it so there was no way Vaneera would notice by plopping them right in front of the nicest hotel she could see in the middle of a dance!

”Hehhehe that was fun! And look Vani a hotel! Is this one you want?”
    ……………………………………………………………………..
”That’s right…. I just want to live my life how I want to, you know?”

Amber sighed, honestly…. It was getting a bit better, just hanging around these two. She was getting used to being around. Still, she knew they both had a point. She did want to repel the Grimm as well, it was another point she and her mother differed on. It was just… hard. Maybe she could make drones to send in her steed? Given them programs to support her teammates…. Patch them up… fight for them….

”I know that… I do not know… maybe I support my team members from behind or create useful things and control them to aid them during missions…. I will have to figure it out, I don’t want to come all this way just to have failed”

Amber gave a light giggle at Snow’s words. So, she was in the same boat as her huh? The situation was different of course, and Snow’s was far more important but… it still felt nice she supposed. Honestly if she were going to be on a team It could at least be Snow’s. She would not get in her way. Heck Snow could command her all day long she would not mind that….

Errrr focus! They were helping her learn her way around. Walking past a group of dispersing people Amber nodded her head in agreement with Snow.

”Yeah I’m sure it’s some weird gathering, maybe a cult or something…. It’s definitely not a convention so I’m not interested”

They came upon a garden and Amber had to agree, the flowers WERE nice looking. Though she failed to see the big deal with them overall. Flowers were flowers, right? It’s not like it was the latest instalment in the Realm Souls series, she had waited like half a decade for the third game! Well, it was not really the third game technically, there were a bunch of side games which she of course also owned. But it was the easiest way to explain it to the people illiterate of it’s majesty. Come to think of it ALSO was not the latest volume of “My life as the Empress’ maid” what was so great about flowers?

Still… Snow did like them…. So, she took careful notice of the location. As uninteresting as they were…. Maybe she could bring Snow back here later. The first step in her manga was to whoo the girl with a gift or place she liked. Since Amber lacked any romantic skills whatsoever she would DEFENTLY have to rely on the location to help her.

….OH wait they were still moving! She waved after them, catching up and getting out of her dazed state!
    ……………………………………………………………
Ruby stares at Weiss blankly, taking in what she said. She then looked around for Yang, to try and ask how she was supposed to react to ‘you should have slapped me harder’ S…should she oblige her? She did not really WANT to slap Weiss again, she felt bad enough as is! If she slapped her harder that guilt would double… no triple! Who would just SLAP someone out of nowhere like… ok so SHE did that sure, but Weiss was being mean then! She was not now!

”Ummm you ummm you don’t WANT me to slap you right? Beacon is weird… is this how all friend making will be?”

And then Weiss handed her a little booklet. For Dust safety? Why would she need to be safe with dir… OH oh right the explosive dirt kind. The unsafe kind…. Well she supposed if the stuff was so important to her profession she probably SHOULD familiarize herself with it. Maybe there was something TOTALLY AWESOME she could do with it! Maybe she could incorporate it into her baby and REALLY show her stuff as a heroine! Weiss’ answer to her though…. Acquaintances… would that be enough for Yang? That was close enough to a friend right? She really did not want to go around talking to a bunch of people now… at all really. What was this supposed to do anyway?! Yang said it was for her growth, but she grew plenty already! She was awesome stuff, she even had cool silver eyes like an epic heroine! Sure all heroes in stories had cool allies with them, and sure her mom was no different…

B….but that didn’t mean she did, besides she was already a team with Cresent Rose and Yang! That was plenty right?

”That sounds fine to me Weiss! Mission success…! I hope…. Anyway you’ve got things to do right? Right? I’ll just.. go figure out what my team is! OH and see what my sister’s is!”

Yes she knew teams weren’t being announced yet.

Yes she was absolutely just trying to get out of this thing called social interaction.

    Why sis whyyyy
    ……………………………………………….
The older woman adjusted her glasses, taking in the information given to her by the group. It was an impressive display she had to admit. The group had talent, though it also had its inherent share of issues. Not from what they themselves were doing, but what they were. Each one was an anomaly. An anomaly Atlas would want to contain, she was certain of that. The issue was that if they did it would ruin the interest, she, and she was sure Ozpin would, have in them. It was also inherent that they should not be caged against their will…. Yes, there was only one solution here. Luckly for her it aligned with her duties here as well. It was ironic though, it seemed it was her destiny lately to keep recruiting the quirky heroic types.
Rivala meanwhile had been enthralled by the actions of the three, and especially by Alba. They took down a vesper…. Vesper’s were by no means weak beings, there was a reason they brought them on hunting missions, a reason any member of her kind was paired with one. In several ways they were even stronger than them. So for humans to take them down like this…. It was nothing short of amazing.

    ”That is…. Amazing…. I’m….. mmmm th…thank you”

It was hard for her to say it, but she did owe it to them. They had… saved her. As much as she didn’t like to admit it. Thanks to them she could continue her journey now.
Or that was what she had thought anyway.

”I’m afraid I will have to ask all three of you to come with me however, regardless. There are… Several reasons for this. One, you will only gather unneeded attention here. Two, at least two, likely three of you will be wanted by the enforcers here, possibly for experimentation to figure out what is going on with you… this would be terrible waste of such potential, having it locked away in some lab. Which brings me to three, the young man can get a change of clothes in my ship as well as a means to clean himself up, on the way to our destination. Oh and….”

She turned to Rivala, who had already started trying to get away upon hearing the woman’s words. She was fixed with a stern look.

”I’m afraid it is not a request, for the record. You will be coming with me so do try not to resist. Besides even if you escaped from me, the best option here… you would not be able to escpape from Atlas security in this state, so please do come along”

She motioned for them to follow, and Rivala did so with a noticeably loud groan. The woman’s had not been threatening despite all this however, she only spoke matter of factly, and began leading them to their destination.

”I am Glynda Goodwitch, and you three?”

    ’Rivala…”

Came the now identified woman's reply with a defeated sigh.

As the high of combat finally died down Alba felt his entire body become...A lot weaker than it was before. Not so weak that he couldn't stand, but it was as if he had expended an incredible deal of energy in dealing that finishing blow. Despite this though he felt...Relieved. Fear, tension, anxiety, uncertainty...It had all given way to an unlikely victory. But he knew as well as anyone that he couldn't count on something like this again. As Penny approaches however he gives her a smile, not really aware as to his...Predicament. He tilts his head, his smile fading as Penny displays concern for reasons that escaped him currently.

"Hah? What's the matter? You look like you've seen a...! OOOOHHHH!"

Realization finally sinks in as combined with Penny's statement about him needing a bath and a change of clothes, he witnesses blood dripping down past his face, which prompts him to raise his hands up and notice just how...Visceral that whole situation had become. Alba gave an awkward laugh, rubbing the back of his head and only soaking the blood in further as he did so.

"Uh...Sorry for ruining the clothes Penny. I'm gonna find a way to make it up to you though!"

Really most people would likely be baffled by his priorities. He had narrowly survived a deadly scenario against a being far more powerful than him and then gotten soaked in an unsanitary amount of quickly coagulating blood but his main concern laid entirely with the clothing his friend had purchased for him.

Finally he simply shrugs, hoping to ease any concerns his ginger friend might have had about his current condition. He grins to her, giving a thumbs up. ... A thumbs up which currently had beast blood dripping off of it. It would be morbid if it wasn't so absurd really.

"Don't worry about me, just hose me down with some water and I'll be as good as new!"

... It wasn't particularly convincing but at least he didn't seem too bothered by what had transpired. Still, he was quick to take on a serious expression when it was called for. He jumped in, strengthening Penny's reasoning for their involvement as they spoke to Glynda.

"You can see it for yourself right? With a leg wound like that she wasn't going to be escaping any time soon. And when we got there it was already pretty much on top of her. With all due respect lady, I don't think she would be standing here right now if we hadn't put ourselves out there."

He turned and faced Rivala as she began to speak, blinking in confusion as she stuttered and finally forced out a 'thank you'. Considering he was freshly amnesiac it wasn't as though he could really judge her...But he was observant too. He could read her body language and tell that thanking someone was something that she wasn't used to doing. The reasons behind this escaped him entirely however. Observation could only tell one so much after all, and he wasn't exactly in the mood to make blind assumptions right now considering he was still struggling to piece together his cloudy mind...He simply gave her a nod.

"Don't mention it. It was just a feeling I went off of, I guess I didn't really have a reason to help out other than that."

So far a consistent theme with his personality is that he had been rather passive setting aside the battle they just went through. However his "Go with the flow" attitude wasn't in line with what the experienced huntress had to say next. She wanted them to go with her and end up in who knows where? He shook his head.

"I'm sorry but there's no way I can do that! I've got a LOT of problems on me right now, and I gotta take care of those first! I mean I don't even know who I am, I woke up this morn-"

A ringing sound gently echoes out...With careful observation one could take notice that the sound was coming from Glynda's scroll. - A strange hand held device which allowed one to send and receive calls. Once Glynda took the time to answer a seasoned man would speak up on the other end.

"I hope you weren't planning on using force Miss Goodwitch. We wouldn't want to cause an international incident after all."

The man chuckled to himself, it was of course a voice Glynda would recognize easily, it was her superior - Ozpin. One didn't have to wait long for answers as to what he meant by his statement as he followed it up with an explanation.

"It seems the young lady with the ginger hair is one of the general's special protégés. He's arrived here at my office and wishes to find out about this morning's happenings as much as we do."

Alba raises an eyebrow, surprised at what he's hearing. It was obvious from the start that Penny wasn't a "normal" girl. Even with a lack of memory his mind was still intact enough to tell him that most girls couldn't bench press a whole person or lift a beast half-way into the air by its tail. But hearing that she knew some army general...Just who in the world was Penny?

"Way to go Penny! Use that leverage!"

Ozpin continued to speak, calmly instructing Beacon's headmistress in directions to take next.

"I'm certain you know best how to convince them to come along peacefully. Once you've arrived at Beacon please escort them to my office."

The call ends, and...Alba is still no less pacified by that strange encounter.

"Listen, I dunno what kinda sorcery you used to hear voices, but it's still not enough to convince me!"

Unconvinced as he was, as Glynda began to calmly list the reasons why they should come along, he still listened all the same. The first reason didn't really register in his mind much. He didn't particularly care who would be watching, and considering the whole of main street had been vacated after the beast's rampage...He simply shrugged his shoulders, unconcerned with attention. However then came her second point, and that one hit quite a bit harder. It was one thing for his own safety to be in jeopardy due to the police potentially taking him in...But Penny and Rivala were both innocent parties here, his unconcerned expression quickly grew into one of concern...

"Well...After all Penny's done for me I wouldn't wanna get her in trouble, and I mean this girl doesn't seem like a particularly bad person considering she wanted us to save ourselves..."

And then the final point levied by the older woman pushed his decision over the edge as he looked himself over, slowly realizing over time just how gross being covered in blood really felt. At least he could confirm one thing: It wasn't a sensation that felt familiar to him...He rubs the back of his head, a little ashamed to have been so against her at first.

"Yeah I guess I can't really argue with that...Alright, I'll come along quietly so long as you can promise you won't be TOO harsh on the other two."

Alba finally smiled, relaxing his posture as he became far less guarded than he had been moments ago. As Glynda introduced herself and then asked who the other three were, he complied calmly, responding with his own name.

"I'm Alba Mars! You can just call me Alba if you'd like, it's a little easier to say."

He made a mental note of Rivala's name being sure to remember it. He had a strange feeling that he was going to be interacting with her a lot more from now on.

A lone figure rests their back against a tree within Beacon's gardens, silently watching Sapphire from the shade of the tree above them, careful to keep their profile as subtle and natural as possible so as to look as though they are simply there for the same reason as everyone else. The figure takes out their scroll and presses a few buttons in it, initiating a call and holding it up to the side of their face as they watch the strange young girl carrying away another potential student. Once the ringing stops and the person on the other end of the line answers, the figure begins to speak calmly.

"I've got some unfortunate news for you, "Mother Dearest"."

They were careful to mask their words so as not to stand out in their conversation...It was clear to the person on the other end of the line that "Mother dearest" was simply a disguise for the title of "Boss". They continued to speak, delivering a message entirely hidden behind a mask of false words.

"It turns out the plant is starting to wither. I know you really had high hopes for it, but all it took was one little weed...I know you were planning to visit once the transfer students started arriving for Vytal...Have those plans changed at all?"

The Lone Figure nodded, accepting whatever the enigmatic person on the other end of the line had to say...Even if it were a begrudging acceptance.

"Understood... I'll take care of everything. You should focus on YOUR work and leave the rest to me. You know as well as I do that you've got a lot to take care of before you can REALLY enjoy your vacation."

With the simple press of a button the call was ended and the scroll folded up before being neatly placed into the lone figure's pocket. They then proceeded to move out of sight before they had the opportunity to stand out too much.

"Why do I always end up fixing that bitch's mistakes...Sheesh, guess I'd better get to work then."

Snow nods at Amber's words, she couldn't find herself disagreeing at all with the notion of living how one wanted. Even Veronica seemed to understand, considering she followed Snow just to gain an image of maturity.

"That is a...Surprisingly admirable goal. I wasn't aware you had such deep motivations, Amber. Independence is the greatest goal one can aspire to."

Both sisters seemed to notice that Amber's tension was finally lifting, if even just a little bit. Snow didn't seem particularly changed by this fact, but Veronica was at the very least glad they could help someone in this way. When it came to Amber's "Sideline strategy" Snow couldn't find particular fault in that...But Veronica was curious.

"Ummm, but if you can make technology that strong, wouldn't it work better with direct user input? Like a...Suit of armor or something!"

Snow raised an eyebrow, glancing at her younger sister.

"A suit of armor? That seems rather primitive doesn't it?"

Veronica shakes her head, smiling as she does so, she then elaborates on what she means.

"Not if it's got technology stuffed in it! Like...Targeting computers or something!"

Snow sighs, taking on a bemused expression. It was clear to the other two that Veronica...Wasn't particularly tech savvy at all.

"That seems rather redundant. My Refulgence doesn't need a targeting computer to strike down my foes."

Setting that aside, Snow sighs, shaking her head as Amber states that the gathering may be a cult.

"I certainly hope not. It isn't very appropriate student conduct to be forming cults on School Property. What...Exactly is a convention though?"

Veronica perks up as they walk, chiming in with her pop culture knowledge!

"Oh! That's a place where nerds go to talk about stuff they like and dress up in funny costumes!"

    ... Give it a second...

Veronica's expression changes to one of embarrassed shock as she turns to look at Amber and waves her hands apologetically!

    "O-OH but I didn't mean you! You're not a nerd I promise!"

... Sometimes Veronica failed to read the proverbial room when saying things...

Setting aside Veronica's shortcomings, while the two sisters continued to walk and talk they unfortunately failed to take notice of Amber getting caught up in her own little world and simply continued moving on.

"Dressing up in costumes...How strange. Is it really that common of a practice?"

    Veronica nods enthusiastically

"Yeah some people put a LOT of effort into it! It's like...A hobby I guess? Like gardening is for our family!"

    Snow chuckles, shaking her head.

"Father takes his garden FAR too seriously for it to be equaled by anything really. You know that as well as I do."

Snow addresses Amber, finally realizing she likely didn't know anything about their father.

"Oh I'm sorry, of course you wouldn't know him. You see he-... Amber? Are you coming?"

The sisters finally realized Amber had been idling in place, watching as she waved frantically trying to catch up. The two simply...Stopped and waited for her.

    "Are you okay Amber?"

Weiss watches as Ruby is clearly completely dumbfounded by what she said about high society and slapping. She sighs, a light smile across her face. This girl certainly needed a lot of help...

    "It was a joke, Ruby."

The heiress took on a proud expression, crossing her arms as Ruby took the pamphlet on dust safety. It was clear she thought pretty highly of her..."Charitable act" even if it wasn't that big of a deal in reality.

"That will teach you all the basics as listed by the Schnee Dust Company LLC., be sure to study it thoroughly or you'll never be able to pass the Entrance Exam got it?"

It seems Ruby was thoroughly satisfied...And so was Weiss now that her image had been repaired. She gave a nod to Ruby's statement, a content smile on her face as she closed her eyes.

"That's correct, I'm quite busy. You have fun with...Whatever it is you do. While I don't think that's a particularly...Wise decision Karasu, I respect your charity. Hmhmmm~ Come along Karasu, let's go plan-... Karasu?"

The Heiress' eyes shot open as she realized he had wandered off in the middle of...Whatever this encounter was. The first thing she spotted upon looking around was a little girl carrying him away by the arm! Weiss huffed angrily, calling out to them!

"Hey! Where do you think you're going with MY teammate?!"

Weiss rushed over and took Karasu by the other arm, gripping it tightly as she glared daggers at Sapphire!

"I worked quite hard to formulate the perfect team I'll have you know! I HAVE to have him!! Him and the legend of the singles circuit, Pyrrha Nikos!!!"

Alba didn't seem to understand what was wrong at first, but after a bit of elaboration and a realization on his own part, that got cleared up pretty fast. He apologized for ruining the clothes and said he was going to find a way to make it up to her, but that simply prompted the girl to shake her head. "Don't worry about it, you're my friend! It could have happened to any of us."

Still... The fact that the creature bled and didn't dissipate -- that cleared up any further doubt. It was not a Grimm by any stretch of the imagination. Creatures such as this were practically unheard of in Remnant -- but the question was, why? They should be very well documented. Especially if they can be trained. "I do wonder where that thing came from, though..."

Either way, Alba recommends just hosing him down later; but that wasn't really going to be the way to handle it. "Nonsense, we'll get you taken care of properly! Don't worry about it!"

That aside. It seemed as though that Glynda didn't just come here to help, but also to hopefully diffuse the situation. Penny was a little skeptical about turning over to any authority figure at this rate, not exactly because she feared what would happen to herself, but what might happen to her friend. But just when it seems like she might have to intervene, a scroll starts ringing.

The conversation can be heard pretty clearly, since the area had been cleared out so much because of the chaos... Penny was a little surprised to hear that General Ironwood was here, and was pulling some strings especially in regards to this being an international incident if it escalates... Not exactly how she wanted things to play out, but that meant that their safety was now assured!

"Haha... Yeah, I kinda forgot about that leverage!"

    Hiccup.

But all of this meant one thing: cooperating was the better move here. When Glynda asked for their names, Penny proceeds to curtsy.
    "I am Penny Polendina!"

There was a pretty good chance that Penny could handle Atlas security, but... If she could avoid all the hassle of combat and especially the messy reports and paperwork that would come after, then it was definitely the preferable option. "So long as we'll be treated fairly, we will cooperate!"

Karasu listened intently as Sapphire explained the details behind her weapon. As well as demonstrating the extensive transformation that it can go through to become a Scythe. His eyes widen a bit in response. "Damn. A weapon like that can see you through a lot. If I were you, I wouldn't part with it for any price."

Now, if that surprised him, what happened next was something that caught him completely off guard; a girl just got right up next to him, and started hugging his arm. The words that Sapphire proclaimed next only added onto the shock. It prompted Karasu to blink. "... Huh?"

But, he was in for it now. Sapphire started dragging him along, insisting that he shows her more of this Beacon place. Seeing little options at his disposal, Karasu decides to play along. This girl... Despite her young, lithe appearance -- she was strong! He was also raised to be nice to ladies too, so... "I just got here myself, but alright."

Oh, but it wasn't enough to have one woman doing this, right? Weiss's yells carried pretty far throughout Beacon, and if that wasn't enough to stop Sapphire, then the heiress storming right up and grabbing onto Karasu's other arm would certainly do it.

The Mercenary was at a loss.
"... I spent all my life being glossed over by women, and now two of them are starting to fight over me?"

This was going to be a long day, wasn't it? He had to think fast, and try to diffuse this situation. "I'm not overly familiar with the social protocol here, but... Weiss, you only have three members for that team, and they come in fours, right?"

What he was about to suggest could either calm things down, or escalate the situation dramatically. "So why don't all three of us go somewhere, and we can be on the same team?"

He wasn't entirely sure it worked like that. But maybe this would keep the two from going into open warfare... Hopefully.

Motet sure had an appetite... That was the only conclusion that Vaneera came to. It seemed like this plan of Motet's was working to keep her friend from getting stressed out all over again. "Well, I do enjoy it. When it's cooked."

She replies with a smile, shaking her head. Maybe Motet had missed all of this too, being in a safe place where they didn't have to be constantly on guard. Civilization was going to help a LOT with her rehabilitation. Maybe more than Vaneera first gave it credit for.

With their new groceries in hand, they would soon be on their way. Now, while it seemed like everything was going smoothly for Motet's intentions at first, she had to get pretty creative for the next step... That creativity led to her suddenly declaring a want to dance and giving Vaneera almost zero time to prepare for it.

In spite of that, she regathered her composure quickly and played along. If there was one thing she wasn't going to be seen as, it was clumsy! Their little back and forth continued up until another sudden stop in front of a hotel. Vaneera sighs a little.
"Jeez, Motet! What's gotten into you? You've never asked to dance so suddenly like that before."

Maybe coming to Vale was the right call after all... Before, Motet never really cared about stuff like that. After a moment to settle down and gather her bearings, she looks up at Motet's next words. "Oh, we're already at a hotel? Yeah, this one should be fine!"

It looked well built and cared for. While it might not be the "very best in the city" like Motet had originally set out for, if she was happy with this one, then Vaneera wasn't going to bring that up.

"Let's head inside, then.", she adds, and then heads inside.

RWBY: Forces of Grimm - Page 2 Mission-complete-png-1-300x200

Well, all that had to happen now was for them to get a room -- something that Vaneera was already heading straight to the counter to do.

Speaking of adoring fans... Oh god, that was one of them -- it must have been! Why did they always shout so loudly about her?! Everyone in Beacon must have heard that! Pyrrha looked a bit nervous, but tried to laugh it off. "Ahaha... Yeah, I suppose you're right."

Pyrrha was now having to hope that this wouldn't paint his impression of her. "But, I'm really the same as anyone else. So don't worry about my reputation."

Mauve had been to many places in her life. While she had spent the majority of her childhood in Mantle, she had traveled to many places in her life. Such was the life an Orphan of Atlas lived. Especially one that was groomed for the missions that she was. But even she was somewhat impressed by Beacon Academy. It wasn't as technologically savvy as Atlas was. But it was majestic and peaceful in a way her home country wasn't.

Attending this place as a student was just another mission for her. She knew the basics of what would happen once she got there. She was going to be put into a four-person team and would have to... well do school stuff. She really didn't expect that much trouble from the school aspect of her life, considering the training and experiences she had been through up to this point. There were other things she expected to give her much more trouble.

Mauve sat down by the edge of the fountain, reaching into her pocket for a cigarette and a lighter. With her strange mechanical ears, the faunus stood out. She was a tall, imposing figure who looked like she had been in a few fights. She let the cigarette, putting away the lighter and exhaling smoke. Well, she got her right on time. Now all that was left to do was wait until she was called upon.

’Is that so? I would not worry to much sweet child, the plant is from a special genus, one little weed won’t stop it’s growth, keep an eye on it for me please? Your Grandmother has high hopes for it you know”

The tone was said with veiled kindness, the man it would be clear it was an order. It was clear the woman still had faith the plant would grow and fulfill its purpose. If it did not? Well rotting plants were removed for the health of the garden, this would be no different. Though, that also depended on where the plant had rooted, new fertilizer was after all a very useful tool.

”Of course I’ll be visiting, I can’t wait to see you again after all, I’ll be bringing your brother and sister with me to~’

More veiled words, words that would not be clear to any eavesdroppers, but would be more than clear to the one she was talking to. She gave a slow twirl in the chair she sat in, nestled in a darkened meeting room.

”That’s sweet of you to worry about your mother,  I’ve got everything well in hand don’t you fret~ Now then, I met a young woman while shopping the other day, one Ruby Rose, similar sounding name right? She has familiar eyes to, so deep…. I think she is just your type…. So get to know her ok, for your mother~ that is all, see you soon my child~”

Said girl, fresh from her conversation with Weiss was now walking by, one might ALMOST think the woman on the phone had planned it that way, if it wasn’t such an impossibility for it to be so. Weiss had run off, so she had gotten right to studying the dust manual she had given her in preparation for the coming exam. She had already come to one useful conclusion: She could use them in her baby~ Ooooh Crescent Rose never looked so beautiful! She could load it into her rifle mode… could she apply it straight to the blade to?! The possibilities were endless!

So enraptured in the book was she, she was only paying attention ever so briefly to what was in front of her as she began looking for Yang, and defiantly not what was behind her.
    ……………………………………………………
”Wonderful~! You will make a most excellent, cute guide to, you do not need to know anything for that, you can improve as you learn about the landscape. So long as I have you all to myse…”

Some stuck up looking princess had charged in, putting her arms on the man Sapphire had ALREADY claimed! What kind of rudeness was that? Did this woman lack an sort of manners?! She had already claimed this man, and as mother taught her, once you took something for your own, it was yours and you shouldn’t let anyone, especially some RUDE HUSSY take it from you!
Speaking of mother… was not she supposed to be doing something for her?

    …….

Eh, it could wait, she always got her job done, and she would this time to…. AFTER she was done taking what was hers away form this icy she devil!

”Go take Pyrrha then! If you wanted Karasu so badly, perhaps you should have claimed him ahead of time homewrecker! Now he’s MY guide. I’ve heard about people like you from mother oh yes I have… well you being a Schnee won’t get you whatever you want here, Karasu is MINE, so get over it….. or maybe you’d like to taste an explosion for the second time today~”

Oh yeah, she had seen that….

Karasu to his credit was trying to defuse the situation, oh that was so manly man of him~ Ah she could feel her heart melting… for him, not the snow queen, snow queen could be toast for all she cared.

”Team? With HER? No way! Hmph… Why should she be able to charge in and get whatever she wants? Besides your supposed to be giving ME a tour, remember?”

Oh yeah…. Karasu had his work cut out for him with these to…..
    …………………………………………
Snow’s words made her swoon. Inside, of course. If she showed it on the outside she would only embarrass herself. She knew SOMEONE would appreciate her lifestyle! No one in Atlas had, so it felt really nice for someone to accept how she felt… Back home it was all pressure to just follow what the Alchemilla family had always done.. but she wanted to be her own person. She wanted to do her own thing, live her own life and dreams. Besides, if she did that she would NEVER have time for her Manga, Anime OR her video games! And that would truly be a nightmare for her, so it was Not happening.

[color=green}”I… thank you for understanding Snow, it mean a lot you know? Usually everyone just… expects me to follow demands”[/color]

Amber sighed, Veronica was SO not helping though. Her, using armor? That would be the most ineffective thing ever! She could even BEGIN to perform close quarters combat as is, wearing armor would just make her a sitting target.

”Snow’s right! Though… I suppose if someone NEEDED such a thing I could make it, I simply need to learn how to do so first… hmmm but I would want to make improvements, an armor with only a targeting computer? That would be lame! It would need to provide support to the users weaponry…. There performance in battle…. A protective barrier….”

The girl trailed off…. Yes they would be on that subject for a good bit.

At first, it seemed like Amber had taken offense to what Veronica said, giving a gasp as she apologized. Though as she moved up to her something would become readily apparent, that she had not taken offense to being called a nerd. No, she had in fact… taken offense to the notion she WASN’T one!

”Of course I’m a nerd! I am a top of the line, grade A NEET! There is nothing I do not know about anime, manga, or video games! Go on, quiz me! Bet you haven’t read the My Villian Arcana manga through to the end have you, huh?!”

The girl gave a ‘hmph’ as she pushed up her glasses knowingly. Though on the next point Amber proceeded to nod in agreement with Veronica, crossing her arms.

”Oh for sure, I have a closet full of my costumes back home. I couldn’t bring them with me so I’ll have to make more though… would you maybe… want to see them sometime?”

Amber made an effort to quickly catch up with Snow after she got distracted, she then proceeded to act as if she had been paying attention all along, walking along at a steady pace and adjusting her glasses in a way that absolutely was not because of her nervousness from falling behind.

”Of course mistress! …. Snow, I meant Snow”

Amber did not take interest in the faunus with the mecha ears. Not because of what she was, no if anything Amber tended to take more of an interest in faunus than most, they reminded her of some of the characters from her games! No, she simply had no interest in her… well…

Her estectic. The non dominate, just combat riddled smoking kind. God who would want that anyway? Certantly not her! She had standards and so she would attempt to keep walking….
Well, if it hadn’t attracted the attention of the ones she had been traveling with anyway….
    ………………………………………………………………………….
”But Vani! That takes so loooong! Plus the animals don’t cook food, do we really have to? We could just down it right now!”

There was no hesitation in Motet’s voice, no hint she was joking. But Vaneera would be used to this kind of thing by now. Though Motet was a lot better than she used to be…. At least she did not tear into the raw food immediately now!

As much as she had done it so that Vani would not see the source of stress they had passed by, Motet had also enjoyed her dance with Vaneera, she was right Motet had not asked much before, but she was definitely going to more now! That being said it also seemed said dance  had the intended effect, it was a complete victory on her part!

”You know me Vani I love to play! We sing together so much, I wanted to try dancing more to!”

No way was she going to say out loud the actual reason, specicully with the creature likely not getting moved for a while. Even Motet was not THAT crazy.

Besides, she wanted van van to relax! And that was just what they were going to do with this hotel. It was not the absolute perfection Vani deserved, but it would have to do so she did not go back outside and see the stupid stressful monster before it was cleaned up.

Vaneera was making a good enough pace herself but well… Motet was eager, and so she grabbed ahold of Vaneera’s hand and raced straight to the reception counter!

    ”Were here to check innnnn!”

Truly, only Vaneera could tame such a being as Motet……
    ………………………………………………………………………….
In truth Rivala had not seen the big deal with Alba’s state ether. So, he was drenched in the blood of his foe, so what? It was not like humans were not a violent species, why not enjoy the victory for all it was worth? Meh, she supposed she shouldn’t concern herself with such things… at least she should she be more concerned about being forced to go with this group instead of getting back on track with her mission to find her moms friends. Unfortunately, it seemed… she did not really have a choice in the matter, and despite not wanting to admit it she was far to weakened to resist, most of all in her leg. He was not sure what feelings drove the foolish human to come rescue her, but she could not not be grateful for it. She knew, the beast would have drug her back if he had not… there was nothing she wanted less than that right now.

”Your combat ability was… better than I thought it would be, taking down a Vesper is no easy feat, even for a group. You all… you should be proud of that achievement, at the least

Glynda, unlike Rivala however was not in the mood for entertaining Alba’s schtick. Tightening her whip in her hand she was prepared to do hat was necessary to bring him her, formulating a tactic for each target based on what she had observed. All this she was doing…
Until her scroll rung. As if it was nothing she put her whip away and causally answered it to her boss, Ozpin.

”Because the unknown beast is not already causing such a thing? For two of these people their condition can only worsen here. If I must do so to bring them to a safer climate… fine, if she has a connection to him it is all the more reason they should all come with us”
The call was soon hung up and Glynda adjusted her glasses. Yes, she did know how best to handle this now. A domino effect was what was needed, she could see that now. She let the pair of Penny and Alba interact amongst each other, only addressing the three once they finished.
”The professor being where I’m going, I assume you’ll want to see him there correct Penny? And Alba, you wouldn’t want her to go there alone, would you?”

It seemed to have the intended effect, as Alba quickly agreed to come willingly. Adjusting her glasses once more she gave a simple ‘hmph’

”I have no intention of causing unneeded harm, but I do need you to come with me, even more so now, so I thank you for agreeing. As for you Rivala….”

The horned girl looked away with a scowl.

”Yeah yeah I’m already coming you don’t have to…”

”Beacon has several top of the line facilities, I’m sure they can help you find whatever it is your searching for”

Rivala blinked in confusion, it was… that obvious? She had tried to keep it hidden as best she could. Still… if she were telling the truth… perhaps she could use whatever it was they had to find her mom’s friend. She would be foolish not to accept the best methods of finding him when her time was so limited. For Glynda’s part? It would let her determine whether what she was searching was dangerous, as well as the woman’s intentions.

’Fine… I will do as you say, I will come with you all”

”Excellent! Now then if you would all come with me, I assure you my own ship is state of the art, it will get us to our destination in no time”

A ship? As in… flight? Rivala.. was already regretting this decision…

So Glynda led them to her ship, letting them get comfortable as they prepared to take off. When they did one could notice Rivala’s nervousness at getting into the air. Despite that she still wanted to make… some form of talk with the ones who saved her.

”You are… very impressive warriors you know, you’d do well in my village, Penny your speedy flight attack is unmatched, and your stabbing techique is on point Alba”

Hey, she’d try, no one said she’d be GOOD at it!

Well, even though the situation was a little tense right now, Penny's kind words served to calm Alba down, same as they had consistently been able to so far. That she completely understood and wasn't bothered by the...Rather unexpected situation the amnesiac found himself in made him feel a lot better about it. He grinned as he looked in her direction, rubbing the back of his head.

"Yeah, I guess when you put it like that...Nobody could really avoid something like this huh? Heheh...Hahaha...Ahahaha!!!"

... Honestly, he had gone from completely stressed out and terrified to amused by this whole mess. He laughed uncontrollably over it all, realizing that very few people likely ever had a "first day" like he was having. The tension melted away entirely as he realized just how safe they were now. Even if he didn't entirely trust Glynda, it wasn't like she was going to do anything bad to them considering the argument she made and the choice to save them earlier. But Penny raised a rather excellent question, one that he wasn't sure of himself. Where HAD this creature come from? It was something he doubted he could answer even if he had retained all of his memory. It was far too much of an anomaly to really consider "normal". And yet...Rivala seemed to know exactly what it was. Or at the very least, she seemed to have a clear idea given that she named it.

"A Vesper huh? So you know what those things are? Maybe you could fill us in with a little bit of info on the way to where we're going."

That aside he...Couldn't really argue with Penny when the ginger suggested he should probably take a slightly more hygenic approach than "Being hosed down" in regards to his lack of cleanliness. He gave her a slight nod, acknowledging what she had to say about that.

"Well...Yeah I guess if this lady's ship has a shower onboard then I should probably do something about...This. I don't think this "Professor" guy or his friend Ironwood would react particularly well if I showed up dripping red stuff huh?"

("Penny should really do something about those hiccups...")

He made a mental note of the girl's condition, he'd have to find some way to help her with that later...Hiccups were probably pretty irritating to deal with. That aside, listening in on the conversation between Glynda and Rivala revealed some rather telling info...It seems the strange blue girl was looking for something. Or...Perhaps someone. Whatever it was she was looking for, for her to require top of the line help must have meant it was something not so easily found. Alba wanted to ask further about that...But realized it was perhaps not the best time to press Rivala considering her condition. For now he simply opted to follow Goodwitch to her personal ship. He had never been on a ride in something like this. Not so far as he could remember in any case...But this thing, it was incredible!

The engines roared to life as the ship began its ascent into the skies. Rivala seemed unnerved, but Alba was completely unshaken by this. Oh it wasn't as if he was used to it, after all one couldn't get used to something they had no recollection of. It was simply that he was rather...Unbothered by life's surprises.

The others might have opted to take a seat but considering his lack of cleanliness, Alba simply...Chose to stand for the time being. He could sit after he was clean after all, right now he wanted to know more about what was going on. He had a thousand questions and exactly zero answers. Alba could only scratch his head in confusion as Rivala commented on their combat skills, and how they'd "Do well in her village"

"Uh...Thanks I guess? I've never really stabbed anything before though. At least...As far as I can remember. It's the strangest thing...I woke up with no memories this morning. Er, well that is to say - I have my memories I think but I can't...Really use them. It's like someone put a big wall up around all of 'em! I'm as good as amne- Amnem- Anmesia-... I've been memory-holed!"

Alba quietly waited until the conversation was at a point where he could slip away for a moment. With an opportunity presented he calmly excused himself...

"I'm gonna take care of this blood problem...You uh, just continue doing what you're doing!"

He walked into the back of the ship, thankfully finding the shower room without much trouble. It wasn't particularly large, but that was to be expected given the available space onboard. Either way it would serve its purpose. Before long he was cleaning away the blood that had soaked into every fiber of his hair, watching as the blood poured down the drain.

The warm water served to get rid of what little tension still remained from earlier. But with the tension gone his mind was now free to wander...Just what was all of that from before? His mind raced a thousand miles per hour and not a single thought provided a satisfactory answer.

("Those people in the park...They called me a 'grimm'...But what even is that? Were they just mistaken? Why were they all afraid?")

Alba let out a content sigh as he let the water roll idly off of him. He might not have had many answers but it wasn't as if he was panicked...Not like before. He was in a safe place right now, surrounded by at the very least ONE person who intended to help him make sense of this. He couldn't figure anything out but he had time to do so. As long as things continued in this way he was certain he would come to an answer eventually...But even so. Even so...

("Why can't I remember anything? And that dream I had...It felt so real, but there's no way it could have been.")

He tried to recall something...Anything. But once again just like in the park, trying to do so only brought on a sensation of severe pain in his mind as the sound of deafening static filled his ears. He clutched his head tightly, only releasing it once the strange pain subsided.

"I guess I still can't do that then. Good to know."

After taking a moment longer to clean up, Alba shut off the shower, stepping out and drying off. He combed his hair down... ... Only for the two antenna-like strands of hair on the top of his head to spring back up as if they were determined to stay pointed skyward. He scowled at them in confusion for a moment...Before shrugging and smiling. He got dressed in the new clothes provided for him - Which were thankfully exactly like the ones Penny had found earlier. They fit just as snugly as the last set of clothes miraculously. Was Glynda some kind of wizard?

Alba stepped out of the bathroom back into the ship's cabin, leaving the shower looking like someone had been brutally murdered in it, but himself looking MUCH better now - Perhaps even better than when he first woke up. He practically glowed with a calm nature about himself as he took a seat next to the others, gazing out of the window just in time to spot a grand structure resting atop a cliff coming up into view.

RWBY: Forces of Grimm - Page 2 Beacon_from_a_distance

His eyes lit up as he witnessed something incredible. The waves crashed against the cliff wall, the rivers on the land above spilled off into the ocean, ships not entirely unlike the one they were riding in flew around the landing pads, taking off and landing to and from places unknown. Birds flew in the skies above, and the green trees gave the landscape amazing color.

"Wow...Is that where we're going?! I don't think I've ever seen a place like that! Have you seen something this wild before Penny? It's totally rad!"

Within a relatively short amount of time the ship slowed its descent as it pulled in above a landing platform, coming to a complete stop and gently lowering itself until it came to a stop resting on solid ground. It was here...They had finally arrived at Beacon Academy.

RWBY: Forces of Grimm - Page 2 Beacon_Landing

The lad gave a deep sigh of frustration. Was this some kind of joke? She really wanted him to track down someone named "Ruby Rose"...But why? Other than having a similar name to Sapphire it wasn't as though this girl could really be that important right? More than that, how was he supposed to find 'Ruby' when he didn't even know what she looked like? His boss seemed to think Sapphire wouldn't be a problem...But he knew that girl. She was quick to drop her tasks in favor of others.

    "What a mess..."

He lowered his cap down over his eyes for only a moment as he lowered his head, stepping forward...And bumping right into Ruby. Thankfully unlike the last few times it was only light enough to cause a surprise, not completely knock both parties off of their feet. He stared at her quietly, his cold gaze practically burning a hole right through her head as he simply shook his head.

"My apologies. I suppose I should be more aware of my surroundings."

To say he looked out of place here would be an understatement. He wore a Mistrali uniform, one from Haven Academy. Ruby might not have taken notice of this, but some more privy people may well have done so. It was only natural for students from the other three academies to arrive when the Vytal festival was drawing near, but it was still VERY early, this year's semester hadn't even started properly yet. The hat he wore on his head was very formal, it looked like something a military officer would wear.

RWBY: Forces of Grimm - Page 2 Bowie_Uniform

He had a head full of blonde hair and a height that was slightly above Ruby's own. From his appearances he looked no older than 16 years old, just one year older than the Rose herself. He had just bumped into the exact target he had been ordered to locate by his boss and he didn't even realize it...He didn't that is - Until he observed her silently...Noticing one. Important. Detail. He stepped closer without saying a word, staring straight into her eyes with that cold burning gaze of his own. And after a moment of observing her he finally spoke up...

    "Silver eyes..."

Snow nodded calmly, innerly surprised that such a simple statement carried so much weight for this girl. It seems she's had a difficult time choosing to be her own person...

"The only demand worth following is one that you believe in yourself. There may be leaders and followers in every walk of life but a good leader would never demand expectations they themselves could not live up to. You'd do well to never follow someone who is unwilling to carry out something they order others to do."

Snow was dead serious as she spoke these words...She knew full well what her goals were, and she intended to live by what she said. She was going to control an empire of her own one day, but it wouldn't be one where soldiers march to their deaths for a leader they've never seen face to face. Something like that...It went against everything the Merlot girl believed in. In that context it was something she could understand Amber's plight in. While she hardly knew this girl's mother, from the sounds of it she carried expectations for others that she never lived up to herself.

Although, Snow found herself scratching her head in confusion over what Amber said next. It wasn't that Amber was talking about the strategy and viability of technological armor that confused the white-haired beauty, it was that Amber spoke of..."Needing to learn to do so first".

"What do you mean? You speak as though you already have a good understanding of how to make such a thing. What is there that you need to learn about it?"

Veronica smiled as she listened to Amber ramble on about improvements...It seems like she was getting a strong understanding of how this girl worked.

"A protective barrier...You mean like a second aura? That sounds like it would be useful for more than just a suit of armor really...But wow, you're really smart with this stuff huh? Who taught you all of this anyway?"

Snow nodded in agreement, also wanting to know just how it was Amber came across knowledge like this. It was far beyond average, even considering Atlas. Amber might have seemed strange and inexperienced but the sisters quickly learned not to underestimate just how skilled the wallflower was. From the sounds of it whatever team she ended up on would benefit from her technical know-how.

Still, with Amber seemingly offended by what Veronica said, the shorter girl was waving her hands frantically, trying to apologize.

    "S...Sorry I won't call you that again I prom-Huh?"

... Veronica's jaw threatened to dislocate as it dropped in shock. Amber was...Now ranting about how she was a MASSIVE NEET. ... But...

    "Um...What's a 'NEET'...?"

Snow shook her head, chiming in with her opinion of what she thought a NEET was.

"Sounds like a type of insect. I believe our village had an infestation of neets once."

    Veronica just looked...Completely exasperated now.

"No no, I'm pretty sure that's wrong..."

The two sisters continued to listen to Amber's...Strange bragging, it just went over their heads as they both stared in confusion, as if it were a pair of cavemen being briefed on technology from the distant future.

    "I'm sorry but I don't think I've heard of...Anime or Mange...What exactly is that?"

Finally Veronica perked up, this was something she knew about! At least a little...

"I know what that is! Anime is cartoons made in Mistral!"

Snow rubbed her chin, taking in the information provided...

"Interesting...I haven't seen a cartoon since I was younger. Father said that it would rot our developing minds and tended to disapprove of such a thing."

As Amber began to brag about how she had read all of "My Villain Arcana" she claimed that neither of the Merlot sisters had read it through to the end. And she was partly right! They hadn't read it through to the end... ... Because neither had read even the first page.

"I read a book about submarines once, does that count?"

"I admit my repertoire of reading material leans towards combat studies and my own journal...I haven't really ever read a comic book before."

Both of the sisters were surprised when Amber admitted to having a closet full of costumes back home. So it seemed she was a hobbyist just as Veronica had described.

"Wow! Yes I'd love to see sometime! I always like seeing really beautiful costumes that people make!"

Snow lowered her head with her eyes closed as she gave the offer some thought...

"One's image is reliant on their wardrobe...Yes, I suppose I could take you up on that offer Amber."

As they watched Amber catch up, both of the sisters were taken aback by Amber's next words...

    "Did she just...Call you-"

    "It's a formal Atlas title of respect...Evidently."

While Amber hadn't taken any interest in the figure by the fountain...Snow did. But not a positive interest. No she scowled once she saw that girl light up a cigarette. Oh don't misunderstand, she wasn't the type to get uppity when people did "Taboo" things. But she simply believed there were places where doing things that would defile them was inappropriate. The older Merlot sister approached Mauve, staring down at the faunus.

"Such a thing will ruin the flowers you know...I believe you should choose a different place to do that."

Snow's expression was one totally void of emotion, she stared down at Mauve with intimidating intent. The two women were like two sides of the same coin. Mauve was Experienced Intimidating, while Snow was Graceful Intimidating. Veronica meanwhile stood behind Snow, glancing from behind the older sister's back, she seemed to be VERY nervous now...

"U...Um Snow...Maybe...She won't hurt anything if we just leave her be?"

Snow shook her head in defiance of her younger sister's request.

"I cannot allow someone to do something like this and ruin the garden. That nicotine smoke will negatively impact the flowers. I'm going to ask that you take your vice somewhere else on school grounds."

One could tell from appearances that Snow was not the type of person to simply back down when she wasn't pleased with something. Likely to Mauve's chagrin it wasn't seeming like this ice cold girl was going to simply let it go.

Weiss had a smug look on her face as Karasu expressed surprise at being fought over by two women.

"Ooohohoho~ Consider yourself lucky! The Heiress of the Schnee dust empire has taken notice of your talents!"

The heiress tugged tightly on his other arm, scowling at the younger girl. She gasped in offense as Sapphire called her a homewrecker.

"Who are you calling a homewrecke-I'll have you know I AM going to bring Pyrrha onto my team! BUT NOT BEFORE I RECRUIT KARASU! Little girls like you shouldn't play pretend when you don't know what you're working with! Hmph!"

The heiress' eyes went wide in shock as Sapphire claimed so boldly that she wouldn't get what she wanted just because of her name. Then she gasped AGAIN when Sapphire insulted her further when she brought up that incident at the docking port earlier...

"How...DARE you! I don't think that I can get anything I want just because of my nam-Augh! Listen, just let me recruit him to my team and you can do whatever you want you boob!"

Weiss stopped long enough to listen to what Karasu had to say...And she nodded in agreement when he stated that teams come in sets of four people.

    "...That's correct."

... And then as if right on cue, once he suggested she team up with Sapphire, at the exact same time that Sapphire objected, so too did Weiss.

"With her?! I'd rather take a dog for a teammate! I'm looking to make only the best team in Beacon! There's no room for...Teammate theives!"

Weiss pouted, averting her gaze shaprly away from Sapphire as she held tight to the mercenary's arm.
